McCain: "You know what's being shouted-out at *his* rallies?" |
|
Has anyone actually called McCain on this comment, asking him for a specific example, with date and place, when he's heard something objectionable from an Obama crowd?
Both Obama and Schieffer let it slide during Wednesday's debate, and Letterman did the same tonight. And I'm sure we're going to keep hearing it until someone calls his bluff.
p.s. From tonight's Letterman... "There's always a few fringe people, who will abuse their Constitutional rights." I'm sure McCain's supporters will appreciate being called "fringe" and characterized as abusing their Constitutional rights.

1. I was shouting at the TV during Letterman.... |
|
When and where did anyone, at an Obama speech, yell out anything like they do at a McCain speech???
Drives me nuts...

2. As I understand it, What is being shouted is "BRAINS!". For shame, Democrats! |
|
Don't you know? "BRAINS" is a dirty word in today's political climate.
Those are damn near fightin' words.

4. The worst I've heard is that "Not everyone who shows up at McCain rallies are McCain supporters. |
|
There are people who show up who don't like (or hate) Obama." :puke:
In other words, don't blame the Republicans. double puke: :puke: :puke:

McCain: "You know what's being shouted-out at *his* rallies?"
Yes, I do John and All I've ever heard were BOOS.
*Obama "There's no need for that, you just need to go and vote."
*Something along those lines.
Democrats are generally more civilized than rethuglicons.

6. All I've ever seen at Obama's rallies is people excited about Obama. |
|
Not filled with hatred for McCain the way McCain's and Palin's are filled with hatred for Obama. (With the one exception of the booing which Obama asked to be stopped.) Obama's rallies are about Obama. So are McCain's and Palin's.

23. Yep, and that matches the campaign strategies ... |
|
Obama's is about the issues, the people and moving forward. And McCain's is about tearing-down Obama, to compensate for McCain's drawbacks and inability to inspire voters.

8. And how big of an idiot is Mike Gallagher? |
|
I occasionally turn on right wing radio to see how long it takes before I hear something stupid. (Usually takes a few seconds). Yesterday Gallagher said that the "story" of anyone shouting things like "kill him" is a hoax perpetrated by the race baiting candidate in the race...Barack Obama!
And Michael Savage told me the real reason for this entire economic meltdown...FEAR OF AN OBAMA PRESIDENCY!!
One wonders if these people actually believe the stupidity that comes out of their mouths.

I hadn't seen that before, and I definitely don't agree with that.
I'm not sure why this would offend McCain though since he called his wife a "Cunt"

25. I find it ironic that the link you provided (thanks) ... |
|
... actually calls for violence against the idiots who wore those t-shirts. The c-shirters may have been guilty of bad taste and poor manners, and I think they're morons for wearing the shirts, but they weren't calling for violence.
So, again, we have threats of violence coming from the Right.

|
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 07:59 AM by HughMoran
Only like 5 people out of thousands even booed when Obama brought up McCains comments about him.
We were so damned well behaved and respectful it makes me think McCain would say ANYTHING to get elected. How does he sleep at night?

13. I remember an instance of someone ridiculing Mccain's military history- and OBAMA |
|
took the person to task- immediately- this was awhile ago- but it was an excellent example of what SHOULD have been happening with Mccain/Palin all along- instead they've nurtured hatred and personal attacks-
Even Mccain's "No, he's not an Arab" moment was lame, and late.
Mccain is so used to playing the 'honorable victim' he thinks it will get him out of any situation- (IMO)
Obama and Biden have been outstanding with the way they have dealt with this situation. (again, IMO)
If Mccain is so sensitive to comments about women, why did he say "Excellent question" to the "how are we going to beat the bitch" comment about Hillary?????- Where was your "honor" and outrage then, Mr. Mccain?

14. The fact of the matter |
|
The basic fact is that the Republican Party attracts racists. They are the party of exclusion, not inclusion.
They attract like moths to a candle not just the Southern hillbilly white trash, but a more virile and potentially dangerous victim of the disease. These are the bible thumpers who spew their hatred from behind a cloak of self righteousness.
Here is a simple fact: The last type of person who would be attracted to the Democratic Party would be a racist.

I've heard no one call him on it. Just like the MSM doesn't call him on his torture flip flop, or his tax cut flip flop, or his general disdain for women and what matters to them, or the fact that he has yet to release all of his medical records.
Funny that, isn't it?

16. It seems simple enough, |
|
ask the Secret Service how many threats to McCain/Palin they investigated from comments made during Obama/Biden rallies. Since the media is looking for anything sensational to report, I believe we can safely conclude: Advantage Obama/Biden and yet another documented lie for McCain.

17. "Fringe People" - who are these people? That is what the former head of the Maryland State Police |
|
called people exercising their First Amendment rights by protesting the Iraq war and the death penalty - that was a good enough reason to put them on a terrorist watch list. So can we assume that the fringe people at McCain's rallies are now on a terrorist watch list?

Obama didn't address it, because he doesn't need to.
How hard would it be to just run someone to an Obama rally, say something bad about McCain, and tape it...that places our legitimate claims of hostility in check.
Obama didn't touch it, because the actual reporting of it is giving him as much bump as he would ever get from this 'your crowd is insane, 'no, YOURs is' crap.
Again...much as we'd like to sling a few right jabs at those marching at the Nuremberg rallies, it is still my belief Obama and team are playing this one right.

28. Yeah, I would agree that Obama and his campaign should avoid the "I know you are but what am I" ... |
|
... game, but I wish *someone* would call McCain's bluff, to his face. There are so few chances, and Letterman let another slip away.
