Labor Day Tabling Report:
Forget the polls. There is a huge groundswell of support to dump Bush, and I've been neck-deep in it for the past two days.

I'm a member of a little Democratic Club in Orange, California. Orange hosts a big street fair every Labor Day weekend, and we operate a booth there. We've had so many people at our booth that we had to double-up staffing. They are standing three-deep most of the time. We completely ran out of buttons, bumper-stickers, signs and t-shirts by Saturday afternoon - with a day and a half left to go.

You would not believe the number of people we've been registering - new voters, first-time young voters, new citizens, and quite a number of people switching their affiliation to Democrat - about 10% overall. We've been registering 3 or 4 people at a time - non-stop since opening. In fact, we had a hard time erecting our booth because so many workers at the fair kept coming by before it opened.

I believe the election is going to come down to which party is the most motivated and turns out the most voters. If my experience this weekend is any indicator, we are going to crush the BFEE in November.

Keep the faith! Find a local organization and help turn out the vote!

1. I moved from Orange County to Lake Tahoe
and this is a very good sign considering we used to refer to it as "behind the Orange Curtain"
