McCain Implodes; Women Will Not Forget
by Bill Hare | October 16, 2008

snip//

Obama had just delivered a measured, calmly reasoned response dealing with the delicate topic of late term abortion and protecting a woman’s life. Since McCain had been given ample opportunity to provide his own views on abortion, it would have been strategically intelligent to say nothing and await the next question.

Instead McCain in a few seconds that will haunt him for the rest of the campaign, he grimaced, made hand gestures resembling an over the hill baseball umpire trying to decide whether to call a base runner out or safe, then launched into a response that was not only bad politics, but belittling and discomfiting such a serious topic, not to mention mean-spirited.

On the vital issue of preserving a woman’s life relating to late term abortion, McCain sarcastically referred to Obama’s “eloquence” which, based on context, related to alleged sophistry and insincerity.

McCain then launched into a terse, sharply worded statement telling the nation’s viewers that the point Obama raised about the importance of saving a woman’s life in such a delicate medical procedure was no more than counterfeit fodder being presented by abortionists.

The McCain statement sounded like what Pat Robertson might blurt out to his television audience while sporting a migraine headache.

Not only would such a comment be perceived as an insult to women along with men seeking to deal with this delicate topic with informed dignity. It conjured up an important issue concerning McCain’s temperament and ability to deal with an international crisis.

With Richard Nixon the brilliant cartoonist Herbert Bloch, known to his audience as Herblock, posed the famous question of “Would you buy a used car from this man?”

In the case of the candidate who already during a political rally laughed and grinned as he paraphrased the words of a Beach Boys musical hit “Barbara Ann” and sang “Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” this question should be asked:

“Is John McCain a man you would like to entrust with access to the nuclear trigger?”

If you make deals with the devil, you will pay and pay and pay.

2. I won't say what I'm thinking right now about McCain's lack of concern
for my wife and my 3 daughters' health. I need to take a blood pressure pill.

3. my nephew even heard about this
and he is one of those LIVs out there who thinks Obama is going to raise taxes on him (he is lower class income wise). He just said to me, "I don't like either of them, but I hate this McCain guy- do you know he wants to get rid of abortion?"

Of course, I begged him to inform himself, sent him the Obama tax calculator, and basically told him that I know he loves me and I've never asked him for anything but now I am. All I am asking is that he inform himself with facts, not rumor, and make a decision based on facts. He laughed it off (oh, youth) so then I got really quiet and told him that there was nothing more important to me.

I also bribed him by telling him how much I would save in taxes under Obama and how many plane tickets that would buy me to come home to visit him:-)

McKKKain made a huge mistake with this "health" BS. What a kreep.
