Will the Russian hostage tragedy play in our campaign?
Can Karl Rove hint about global terrorism and the need to be "tough," and, of course, that his man is the toughy one?

I won't put it pass him and I would like Kerry to have some kind of a statement. Offering condolences, of course, and condemning global terrorism. Let him be the first to recognize that there are many terrorist groups in the world and that there are ties, though some may be loose, between them.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Sen. John Kerry released the following statement today on the terrorist attacks in Russia:

"Teresa and I are deeply saddened by the tragic deaths and injuries of so many young schoolchildren, their families and teachers at Middle School No. 1 in Beslan, North Ossetia. Our prayers and sympathy are with the people of Russia in these days of immense grief.

"The tragedy in Beslan follows a horrific series of terrorist attacks in Russia. Americans stand united with the people of Russia against terrorism and share the Russian people's grief and mourning at these senseless deaths."

4. Thank gooooooooooooodness he did that...
I'm pleased. It shows a depth of character and good will. Plus the statement is absent of any hint of fearmongering and/or warmongering--'roll out the big guns and go in blazing away, we're gonna git them bastards'...

Well done Senator John F. Kerry!! :loveya:

3. Bush won't let it play. Why should we care? It's not about us.
And though he didn't include them, I'm sure Russia could be considered part of "old" Europe, so who gives a rat's ass?(Sarcasm) The Bushes could care less.

5. I think they are using it already.
Friday night the media whores at NBC did a segment on Dateline. It mentioned the Russian tragedy, almost in passing.

Then, they asked, are our school prepared for a terrorist attack????

Fear, fear, terra, terra, fear, fear, terra, terra, fear, fear, terra.....

:puke:

We should be offering them our condolences, not worrying about checking for terrorists under the bed every night.

Most schools do have emergency plans. They take reasonable precautions. Dateline needs to get a grip.
