Kerry marriage off - Dean endorsement in SC
An influential South Carolina state senator switches away from support for Kerry to support for Dean

http://www.thetandd.com/articles/2004/01/07/news/news6.txt

"Citing Dean's energy and no-nonsense approach, John W. Matthews Jr. of Bowman, an influential black state senator, announced in a conference call that he is supporting the former governor, a switch from his earlier nod to U.S. Sen. John Kerry."

1. That was misleading - I thought Kerry's marriage had busted up-even though
I don't want him to win - I certainly don't want his - or anybody's - marriage to split. :(

People are seeing what is happening and they are responding, even politicians. This guy is no dummy.

3. If Dean is "connecting" in SC that is great!
Surely this state senator has a great feel for what is happening on the ground.

This portends great things.

4. But, but, but -- Dean can't win in the South! :-)
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 07:56 AM by Atlant
I've heard it here dozens and dozens (if not hundreds and
hundreds) of times! He's some kind'a super ultra liberal
Walter Mondale commie pinko bastard who'll take away all
their guns, pickup trucks, and testicles!

Oh well, another good anti-Dean meme falling in flames.

And good riddance to it!

17. There's no way Dean can win the south over Clark
His campaign for the southern vote has been nothing but insulting towards southerners.

18. Which is why he is doing so well in the south
Wow, it's so weird to see people say things out loud that are so easily discredited by simple facts.

You might as well be saying the sky is freaking green.

19. Clarification, please...
> There's no way Dean can win the south over Clark"
> His campaign for the southern vote has been nothing but
> insulting towards southerners

Would you be referring to Dr. Dean's actual campaign or to the
meme's that we're being fed daily by posters here as representative
of his campaign?

5. more good news for Dean
Though I have to say it is stunning to see people take back endorsements just because their candidate is not doing well.

15. ?
You mean like the way Kerry jumped on the anti-Vietnam War bandwagon when he threw someone else's medals away?

Or the way he jumped on the "patriotic" bandwagon when he and others voted on the IWR and the PATRIOT Act?

How about the way he jumped on the "We were duped" bandwagon when Bush followed the IWR to the letter?

I understand the induced paranoia that made the Senators vote on the IWR (being told that Iraq had weapons capable of reaching the East Coast). It still doesn't excuse the Senators not reading what they voted on.

It certainly doesn't give Kerry supporters to accuse someone else of bandwagon jumping.

Dean opponents have thrown the bar away since they can't place it any lower than on the ground.

Saying it doesn't make either aspect of your claim so, of course.
