Kerry has run against a charming alcoholic before
Bill Weld while he was my Gov. was a KNOWN heavy drinker. He was a slacker as gov too, IMHO. What he was really good at was CHARMING THE PRESS.

Kerry is a better man than these slackers;it will come out in the debates.

What is about alcoholics that makes them think everything is just hunky dory while the world around them crumbles(literally the world per Bush,or family life of an alcoholic?)

The press was duped with Weld and with B*, and lets their drinking episodes slide.Could it be because they too are heavy drinkers?
The press are enablers.

1. Yes, they would like to have a boilermaker with Bush because...
he wouldn't make them feel guilty by talking about reponsibilities and duty and all that crap like Kerry would.

2. alcoholics = denial; they're paper tigers who live in a house of cards
and play tricks too slick/dirty by half -- but, in the end, they just crumble along with their delusions and puppetry ...

Let's only hope that this pattern will "crumble" just in time for regime change in OUR America!

3. I agree. He will charm America just like he charmed Iowa
THe stunts he pulled in the primary, such as riding his harley onto the stage to interview with Leno, those have all been put away for now. But he will go on a charm offensive pretty soon. He is just biding his time. He will strike when he can be most effective. He aint no pushover.

4. Well, that's the thing about alcohol.
What is {it} about alcoholics that makes them think everything is just hunky dory while the world around them crumbles{?}

Booze basically numbs the worry circuitry of the brain. I'm convinced that the most severe problem alcoholics face in recovery is having to confront their demons instead of hiding from them in an alcoholic fog. The most successful treatment method I know for addictions is a form of brainwave biofeedback that teaches the addict how to maintain lowered arousal & fear levels while working through the problems.
