SW Ohio new voter registrations
72,000 local voters sign up
Boards of elections swamped this year
http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/09/04/loc_loc1amvote.html

By Friday, two full months before Election Day and a month before the registration deadline, Hamilton County alone had already registered 34,000 new voters. Butler has registered more than 16,000 new voters this year; Warren County more than 10,000, and Clermont has 7,500 new registered voters.

Hamilton County is home to the City of Cincinnati which is 43% African American. The counties with much lower registatration are overwhelmingly white, except Butler includes the city of Hamilton (not lily white)

4. Ohio registration forms don't ask for party affiliation
My guess is they use zip codes correlated to minority demographics to surmise who is registering.

I think the GOP knows that African American participation is skyrocketing for this election.

Poll watchers are needed in Ohio for African American precincts BTW.

2. Will these newly registered voters actually vote Nov. 2nd?
It's very easy to register, as well it should be. But how confident can we be that these people will actually get out the door on Nov. 2nd? I'm hoping they will, but if it's taken them till now to even register, I worry the apathy will creep back by Nov. and they'll us excuses like, oh, the lines were too long, I didn't have time, I forgot where to vote....

Somehow we have to keep the anger level up for the next 2 months!!!
