Bush Drug Use
Atrios posts this today:

Snort
In 2000, the Bush campaign made a big deal about answering-without-answering questions about Bush's past cocaine usage by having him say that he could have passed the WH background check during his father's administration. This would have meant, according to his assertion about what that background check entailed, that he hadn't done cocaine since 1978, though he strangely stated that it meant that he hadn't done anything bad since 1974. All these inconsistencies served to deflect the press from the real issue, while they were chasing around trying to parse what the hell was being claimed. See Bushwatch for full details. From what I understand, what we'll be hearing soon is not only would Bush not have passed the WH background check at the time -- he also wouldn't have been in compliance with federal drug laws at the time.
As they say, developing...

Now, if it develops that there is evidence of Bush's past cocaine use, it seems to me that Kerry and his supporters should lay the groundwork for this scandal to be most devastating to G.W.B. The entire Bush campaign revolves around the notion that only Bush, personally, is resolute, says what he means, is a straight shooter, can be trusted, so on and so forth. Fine. Then a revelation like this goes to the very essence of everything Bush is about. It disqualifies him by his own words, his own standards (if you can call them that).

Let's start setting that bar for Bush to hurdle ... use his "strength" against him, just like we are reading that Karl Rove does to his political opponents. In otherwords, Bush crumbles when his only so-called strong point turns out to be a mirage.

4. search DU for recent thread on
"Bush Sr. send dubya out of state as a "drunken liability" "

or similar title.

in it, a poster at salon.com, is said to have been wife of a Sr. bush advisor, and that sr. bush felt jr . was "raising several kinds of hell". My paraphrase.

A reporter could maybe get more details from that wife, who is named in the DU thread.. thread seen in the Latest page, about sat sep 4 or fri 3rd. Seen then, but you know the dates of posts are GMT greenwich time , so the post might be dated a day before or after the 2 days i saw it. Search function might be the best way to find it.

Or, post a new post asking others if they know of the thread. I haveseen that done.

11. The woman's name was Linda Allison, wife of political adviser & friend
Jimmy Allison. The Salon article (and a guardian article) were published the 2nd and 3rd of September, respectively.

I think another thread is discussing this (see urinating on tires thread).

3. Bush admits to cocaine abuse by omission. end of story. Now the
question is, do Americans like a guy who isn't a straight shooter and who misrepresented the truth? I sure as hell don't like liars.

5. The fundies might embrace him more...
the fallen have returned to the Lord, Little Georgie had a "Come to Jesus" conversion. His sins are forgiven. The redeemed one is leading us now.

He's the fucking anti-Christ.

6. fundies irrelevant at this late date, since they already committed: but
fencesitters not yet committed, ... thus they do not include any fundies among their number.

So, an ad about cocaine WILL change those who are still fencesitters.

That's the goal, and cocaine ad will help immensely.

Search for another thread here... "bush's military records PROVE cocaine use" .. my paraphrase.

7. Dancing on the table and what I want to know.
Edited on Sun Sep-05-04 04:51 PM by higher class
I wouldn't need to know more about the drugs if the rumored photo of him dancing nude on a table with boots on would show up.

What I want to know is what went on in the meetings the cabal held when they selected him to be their candidate in '98 or before. Can you imagine how many indiscretions they had to check out to see if they could cover them all up and if they needed more than Hughes, Rove, Allbaugh, and Bartlett to cover them all up and get approvals from the Federalist Society, Council on Foreign Relations, and the PNACers? Have you ever wondered what 'confession time' was like when he sat down and told them all his sins and what records there might be for each little night of fun? I can just imagine the meetings. Well, it developed that they were so confident that his born again swagger, backslapping, sneering put-downs and his ability to be brainwashed by their propaganda would work, that they proceeded and may still succeed in the cover-up.

Another thing I want to know - Do you remember election night with Bill Bennett and the second announcment that * won - Poppy cried - I wonder what that was really about.

You know that the Reagans and the Bushes didn't get along because when Nancy said "Just say no", favorite son didn't.

8. If you were a born again fundie with a relative in jail for excessive
sentencing for drugs - would you entertain a second thought about the free reigning President?

There have to be people out there who bought, sold, and tooted the stuff with W.

Maybe Mr. Soros could offer a huge reward if they'd come forward?

this post gives the name of the wife. So no need to search for that other DU post to get her name, as i urged in my earlier re: higher up on this thread.
