repub Doug "the plumber" supports Obama because |

my husband (republican) wrote the following email to his football pool buddies today. Am so proud of him and it made me cry:
First of all I want to apologies for my political views especially if it offends you. That said there are two issues that have made me come to a conclusion.
First is the cost of fuel. When I was young you could fill a tank of gas for about an hour's worth of labor. Today it is about a full day's wage to fill an empty tank. For 30 years both parties have promised energy independence and have not delivered anything. It's not just about personal consumption. It has effected the cost of everything we consume and has increased the costs to all businesses more then any tax we could imagine. The world is running out of oil and soon it will be two days wages to fill your tank or more! We don't have a choice. We need to get started and we need to think big. That's why I prefer Obama's plan over McCain's. Obama has more capital committed to this issue and it will generate more jobs. McCain says we can't afford Obama's plan and is focused more on the energy companies providing nuclear power and offshore drilling. Isn't that the same plan and the same energy companies that got us where we are? We cannot afford NOT to invest in oil independence for America. Whatever the cost, it will be far cheaper in the long run even if it costs as much giving a day's pay in investment, it's still better then funding countries that don't even like us, essentially paying a tax to them.
Second is the insurance issue. This is personal, and forgive me. I have paid for health insurance my whole life. I have provided health insurance for my employees. I have taken care of my body, never smoked and always stayed in shape. I have Parkinson's and cannot even change jobs, or retire without my preexisting condition precluding me from affordable health insurance. What did I do wrong? Obama says he will get rid of the preexisting condition loop hole and McCain has been silent on the subject.
Of course the worst case scenario is neither candidate delivers on their promises, and if history proves correct, that is exactly what we can expect. I'll take my chances with the Candidate who has less history of disappointing us on the promises we direly need.
That's why I, Doug the licensed Republican Plumbing Contractor am voting for Barack Obama.

1. Grigor the plumber joins Doug the plumber |
|
Grigor(name changed to protect his identity from his boss) unstopped my sink this week. He's been a U.S. citizen for only about a year and will be voting for the first time in this country on Nov 4. That vote will be for Obama.
Grigor was born and grew up in an eastern European country and knows what freedom is and isn't. He's got his own reasons for choosing Obama. All I know is: McCain is definitely not his guy.
