Palin Fails US Geography
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 08:51 PM by Compline
This People interview is full of gems, but my favorite has to be:

Have you traveled with the kids anywhere in the lower 48?
SP: Yes. Many, many, many times. Yes. Yes. We go to Hawaii often.

1. Haha - she is a laugh a minute.
But - it kinda pisses me off how much media attention she gets.

4. That's a strange answer for another reason.
She went to college for a period of time in Hawaii but left because she said she didn't like the weather. Why would you go vacation in a spot where you don't like the weather?

I haven't been to Hawaii, but my grandparents lived there and loved it. I can't wait until I get to go and I am sure that the weather will be just fine.

7. Maybe she left Hawaii for academic reasons, not because of the weather
In other words, college in Hawaii wasn't working out.

I can understand reasons why people might not like Hawaii, like a feeling of isolation from the mainland or the expensive lifestyle. But I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about Hawaii's weather.

19. It's sort of odd that even though the Puerto Rico primary made headlines this year

People think that D.C., Guam, etc. are somehow "not part of the United States".

Yes, there are 50 states.

And, yes, there are other territories and possessions that appoint delegates.

Can you correctly guess the number of contests in the primaries?

Let me break that down for you...

Ever hear of D.C.?
Puerto Rico?

Do you know the others?

fuck that.

that's not being fair, that's being co-dependent.

31. if you think those slip-ups are similar, you have a strange notion of "fairness"
A) being asked about travel to the "lower 48" and immediately talking about hawaii

vs

B) slipping up and saying 57 states instead of primaries...

then again... you're not a democrat and obviously here to just troll.

just sayin...

35. Yes... I am obviously a troll and not a democrat... obviously...
... look I'm not tearing down Obama for his gaffe... and I'm not tearing down Palin for her gaffe.

If I were tearing down Obama the troll claim might stick... I'm not doing that.

And there are far better issues to criticize Palin about than Alaskans thinking everyone down is "lower-48". Who gives a crap? Well obviously you give a crap, but why?

I basically see no point in stirring up shit at every possible opportunity in order to tear an opponent down. It's pointless when Republicans do it to Obama... it's pointless when Democrats do it to Palin.

I guess that makes me a Reasonableness Troll... or a Discretion Troll... an Act-like-a-grownup Troll.

32. Yeah, I just thought of that. Eveyone messes up now and then, they are human after all. But Palin
just seems to have no clue or intellectual curiosity about policy and about the world. She is fine as a governor if you like rightwing Rethugs I guess but the VP role has grown so much over the years. I do not see her as being an advisor or confidant to McLame. She would be the weakest VP we have had in years. I guess with Cheney that is not a bad thing but what happened if McLame croaked? She's already in over her head. Thank God Obama and Biden look like they are gonna win this thing.

34. I am more concerned with her association with AIP
Her stupidity is apparent to all. It doesn't require amplification. What I can't fathom is the lack of exposure of her support for a party that advocates that Alaska should secede from the Union. Wright's stupid statements pale in comparison to what the founder of AIP has stated in that he hates the United States and would even resort to armed resistance. To the best of my knowledge, the only news program that has discussed this was CNN. I can't help but thinking this is absolutely bizarre the someone running for the Vice Presidency has more than a casual association with these people and that all the major news outlets are ignoring it, but are more than willing to harp on Obama's association with Rev. Wright and minimal association with Ayres.

37. "What do you like to read?"
"SP: Autobiographies, historical pieces – really anything and everything. Besides the kids and sports, reading is my favorite thing to do."

So if someone else writes about a particular historical figure she won't read it? I mean not everybody is able to write their own biographies. Plus wouldn't that be a little biased to read about a person only if that person writes their own biography? ....... OK ok I know I'm reaching but she reminds me of a certain moron that's been in the White House for a few years.

Question: What about for fun? (ie what she reads)

SP: Do we consider The Looming Tower something that was just for fun? That's what I've been reading on the airplane. It's about 9/11. If I'm going to read something, for the most part, it's something beneficial.
