Should Kerry make 1000 Dead Campaign Topic |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 10:03 AM by StClone
Or will the RNC geniuses counter by saying he is belittling the lives of, and fine service by, these soldiers gave in defending our freedom?
I say Kerry should make a very big deal out of the casualties as well as publicizing the ignored wounded.
We went to war on false pretense and the cost is so deep and dear to the families and friends of those fallen it is hard to see them supporting Bush World.

...first and foremost, because that is the right thing to do. No candidate should ever use an arbitrary milestone like 1,000 dead as a campaigning point.
Secondly, every death is a tragedy. And in Iraq, every death and injury is doubly tragic because it never had to happen. The focus should rightly go to the reasons people are being killed and maimed. The number 1,000 is irrelevant. Nobody should be dying there.

4. What number isn't arbitrary? |
|
I never thought we'd lose more than 100! How many is too many?
Making it sound as important as it is is what I think K-E should do.
Kerry could put it like this:
"We spent untold billions in Iraq and 1000 lives when will a war perpetrated under lies will end and when will he be held responsible?"

2. If the media makes a topic of it, he'll have to make a statement. |
|
Very carefully.
At the rate we're losing soldiers, it will be before the end of the week.

3. I think it should become a campaign topic |
|
I think the media will say something about it and if Kerry could pour a little gas on that flame this could turn into a big deal. It's got to be done carefully but I think he could potentially get some good milage out of this.

Yes, he should first show respect for the dead and then disrespect for those who sent them to their deaths with no good cause.

6. he should make the dead after Bushes "Bring it On" commeent a topic |
|
I think that idiotic "Bring it On" statement needs to be highlited...and then all the causalities afterwards.....which demonstrates what a fuckup postwar (har har) Iraq was.
Im sure someone can think up a pretty damning commericial using that....

He should also have a graphic to go with it. How about that picture of the flag draped coffins in the plane? Blow it up and show the sheeple exactly what their idiot-in-chief doesn't want them to see. OR, blow up pictures of each and every dead soldier. MAKE them LOOK AT THEIR FACES! Let them SEE the cost of this fucking war. He should travel with those pictures wherever he goes...at every rally, show them. At every fundraiser, show them. At every press conference, show them. The media won't. Kerry should.

that is made up of all the faces of the dead soldiers. The commercial should be silent. Show that picture and zoom in on the faces of the soldiers. Enough said without saying a word.

9. Yes sure...I voted for the war, but... |
|
he's got his hands too dirty on Iraq. then what about him voting against the 87 million dollars...chimpy's handlers could say there would be more dead if kerry had his way.
too dangerous
talk about jobs, jobs, jobs, healthcare, healthcare, healthcare.
I'm working again for the first time in months...just now able to afford a crappy computer...but I'm making almost half of what I was making before and am paying double for my medical coverage! I'm paying $80 per pay period!! And that's not pretax money!! :(

20. the truth about the 87 million |
|
First, Bush SENT the troops over there WITHOUT adequate body armor. So it's his fault in the first place. He didn't think it was gonna be a real war.
Second, it was a Democratic addition to the bill to add the body armor allocation.
Third, there were two competing versions of the bill. The difference was in HOW the 87 million was funded, not the body armor. Kerry voted FOR the version that took it out of the tax cuts for the wealthy.
I hear on you health care. My husband and I pay nearly 45k a year out of pocket for it.

11. How is that belittling them? |
|
Man the repugs are disgusting.
It would be criminally negligent not to use the unnecessary deaths of American soldiers in the campaign. They're one of the biggest reasons * must go.

he could point out specific deaths and injuries and how they were caused by lack of proper equipment ( in documented instances.) He can point out that "for a mere $, Johnny could have been wearing a ....". Then he could talk about how much Halliburton and other contractors are getting. Compare the cost of a bag of laundry to that of a proper gun lubricant....
There are ways to show that * policies are killing our military without being disrespectful.
And why the hell aren't we UNDERSCORING the way Repukes were more interested in Monica than Osama, back when Clinton was trying to do something about the Taliban?

14. If Kerry wins and the casualty count reaches 2... |
|
3...or even 4K on his watch...that could be a major political football.
I think he should remain silent about them like Bush does. Besides, It plays better for TV. Never talk about war casualties so people forget the human cost of a yes vote.
