McCain: "That's not the way it ended."
I just watched Barack Obama's speech in Richmond, Virginia on C-SPAN (which was awesome, by the way). It was followed by John McCain in New Hampshire. He was introduced by Cindy, who began by noting that she was "here to introduce your next speaker." Not "your next president," but "your next speaker."

Senator McCain began his remarks with his oft-told anecdote about former Arizona Representative Mo Udall. It seems that Udall walked into a barbershop in New Hampshire, and announced "Hey, I'm Mo Udall, and I'm running for president." Someone in the barbershop replied "We know. We've been laughing about that all morning."

John McCain went on to say, "That's how our campaign began -- but that's not how it ended, my friends!"

Ended? I thought the campaign was still on.

Don't get the wrong idea. We can't let up for a second. It is going to take a veritable, overwhelming surge to keep the Republicans from stealing this one too, and we can't let up for a second.

I just like the idea that McCain is feeling so overwhelmed that he lets slip his feeling that he already feels defeated!

(I didn't watch the whole speech, in fact the replay is still going on in another room, but I think it is the same speech in which he inadvertently used that particular "C" word, that he is apparently so very comfortable with.)

May God, or fate, or pure dumb luck, bless us with an Obama victory twelve days from now.

Keep up the fight!

:nuke:

1. I think McCain has conceded
The rest of the campaign may not have but everything in the last 24/48 hours looks like McCain sees the outcome of this election is clear.
All Obama has to do is remain on message and not make any gaffes that could be used to smear him. Shouldn't be a problem.

2. I agree, I think
And I'm comforted by that "army" of 5,000 lawyers keeping watch. :)

4. Even if he has conceded we can not
We must fight on for Obama victory just as we have been. I will still work the GOTV over the next two weeks.

3. Or it could be another mood swing
The man has pretty drastic mood swings. It's not just the flashes of anger, it's the fact that no one knows which John McCain is going to be talking at any given moment.

5. He has the air of someone who has accepted defeat.
November 5 can't get here fast enough. He's ready to head back to AZ.

It's also obvious that he can't stand Palin. I doubt she'll be on his long list of "good friends."
