More Palin Classic Quotes... She set a new Fog Index babbling record!
Here are the latest quotes from yesterday's Brian Wilson interview. I saved the best for last. Figuring out what the hell she's saying is like trying to weave a blanket using Silly String.

Transcription Note: I did my best to transcribe these appropriately. Dictation punctuation can be subjective, but I did my best to do it according to her speech (such as it is). I left out her stammers and repeated words.

It is so naive and so dangerous for a presidential candidate to just proclaim that they would be willing to sit down with a leader like Ahmadinejad and just talk about the problems, the issues that are facing them so that's some ill-preparedness right there, but following up with your comment about Biden also, when Biden -- what he had done the other night to his democrat donors, in talking to them at a fundraiser, warning them, saying "Mark my words, there will be an international crisis if Barack Obama is elected, he was confirming what he'd been saying all along in the Primary race."

Fog: 46.2154 Number of words: 104 Number of sentences: 1 Average words per sentence: 104.0000 Percentage of complex words: 11.54

I think that that has been the most significant comment that -- that's my personal opinion on this but for Biden too to have been the one to say he would be so honored to run on a McCain ticket because he knew that that way if Senator McCain is elected President that our country would be better off.

Fog: 28.0276 Number of words: 58 Number of sentences: 1 Average words per sentence: 58.0000 Percentage of complex words: 12.07

I'm not going to toot my own horn but I do have more executive experience than Barack Obama even has dealing with multi-billion dollar budgets and thousands of employees, in positions as Mayor, as a manager, as a regulator of oil and gas and then as governor but let's not forget also in this context of one endorsement Senator -- Colin Powell's -- that you have received the endorsement of at least four former Secretaries of State and -- five -- and hundreds of retired top US brass and -- US military brass -- that see also in John McCain the ability to win the wars and to keep our nation safe and of course those who are in -- more economic-minded, also, who are endorsing John McCain because they know too that he will get our economy back on track, he will reduce taxes on our small businesses and on our families, so that we can keep more of what we produce and earn, so that we can hire more people as business owners -- that's how jobs are created.

Fog: 73.8243 Number of words: 173 Number of sentences: 1 Average words per sentence: 173.0000 Percentage of complex words: 11.56

Hearing her voice saying sentences that are non-sentences - or trying to read her sentences. Either way, it boggles my mind.

on edit: I'm sick of hearing McLame say "my friends"

on another edit: I'm sick of hearing McLame say "Joe the Plummer" :puke:

8. Imagine yourself as an ESL foreign leader, trying to negotiate with her...

Scattered, idiomatic fragment and run-on sentences constructed in a haphazard, rambling and disjointed linking of endless dependent clauses -- there's a surefire path to ensuring good communications.

12. Just imagine that
the world already hates us because of bu$h & his cronies. If McLame/Failin are elected, they would not only hate us, but also think we are the dumbest people on the face of the earth.

What you are seeing here is the way Palin's brain works. Or doesn't.

18. Fog Index info, so you can run more Palinisms through the calculator yourself.
I should have added this background info, for those interested in what the Fog Index means. I've also pasted a link to a Fog Index calculator, so you can evaluate your own favorite Palin quotes.

Description of the Gunning Fog Index:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunning-Fog_Index

In linguistics, the Gunning fog index is a test designed to measure the readability of a sample of English writing. The resulting number is an indication of the number of years of formal education that a person requires in order to easily understand the text on the first reading. That is, if a passage has a fog index of 12, it has the reading level of a U.S. high school senior. The test was developed by Robert Gunning, an American businessman, in 1952.<1>

The fog index is generally used by people who want their writing to be read easily by a large segment of the population. Texts that are designed for a wide audience generally require a fog index of less than 12. For texts that require a close to universal understanding generally requires an index less than 8.
