Schwarzenegger: By the time that she is sworn in I think she will be ready to be president
Now that they're available, we've updated this blog with the more complete quotes from California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger -- who's about to head to Ohio to campaign for Sen. John McCain. He tells CNN's Campbell Brown tonight that while he thinks Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was a ''great choice,'' a political talent and a popular governor, she isn't quite ready to immediately handle the role of commander in chief, if need be. But she can learn, he said.

Here's the first excerpt:

CAMPBELL BROWN: Do you think she's qualified to be president?

ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER: I think that she will get to be qualified.

BROWN: She will get there? What do you mean? She's not ready yet?

SCHWARZENEGGER: By the time that she is sworn in I think she will be ready.''

UPDATED:

SCHWARZENEGGER: "I know when I became governor, there were a lot of things I did not know. The answer is: do you have the will to educate yourself? Do you have the will to get up to speed? Are you a sponge that absorbs information very quickly? That's the kind of person she is. That's what she would do if she becomes vice president.

And here's more:

SCHWARZENEGGER: I think it was a great choice.

BROWN: Why?

SCHWARZENEGGER: Every choice has its assets and every choice has its shortcomings. and what you do when you're on the other side of the camp is you point out the other side's shortcomings so we always point out she's not experienced and she's bought too much clothes and all those issues.

''She's an executive as a governor running for the state and has an approval rating of 80%.''

''It shows she's done an extraordinary job in that. And one would assume from seeing this history and her passion about public service and reaching out and helping people that she would do the same job as the vice president when she's in office.''

Here's an excerpt: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/detail?blogid=14&entry_id=31828

9. You can smell the cognitive dissonance.
It's said that most human behavior is rationalized after the fact rather than being planned in advance. Schwarzenegger's words are exactly how rationalization sounds.

7. I agree.
He knows full well that the entire population of Alaska is about the same as a middling sized city in California - and the annual budget is not much bigger.

I think the 'taking on the oil companies' is a scam - she cut a deal with the oil companies to 'fight' them and get a big check cut to the citizens of Alaska, which immediately endeared her to them, then turned around and pressed for unlimited drilling on the oil companies' behalf. So she solidified her political position (giving her that 80% approval) by bribing the public with a fraction of the money the oil companies expect to get if they get their way with the drilling. And somebody's making a shitload of money from the new pipeline.

The republicans, like Arnie, back her because that is the party line. But she's as crooked as they come.

8. That's just plain, grade-A bullshit from Schwarzenegger.
That's just utter, complete horseshit to expect people to believe that she would be qualified to be President by January. How fucking stupid does that asshole think we are?

24. Sorry, but we are way over our own quota for dumbass politicians
We will try and rectify that problem within the next two weeks, when we anticipate a reduction in stupidity after they are voted out of office.

Please re-submit your application to detain out of state dumbass politicians at a later date.

Thank You.

The Management.

Unca Ted and the oil companies allows a tax free state PLUS pork plus annual checks to every man, woman and child in the state. And it's an 80% approval rating in a state with tons of land, and a population--a relatively homogenous population--equal to that of Charlotte, NC. Would the mayor of Charlotte have an 80% approval rating under those circumstances? You betcha!

18. If cramming for 3 months is all it takes to be ready to be President, what the hell is all the flap
about Obama's alleged lack of experience? His academic credentials, compared to hers, indicate that he is light years smarter than she is. If someone can be ready by cramming for 3 months, my money is on Obama. But then, that's where my money has gone since December 2007.
