She's 17. I told her I'd let her pull the lever for Obama so she can be part of this election.

1. Absolutely!
I have taken Little MB to vote with me since she was born.

She is really looking forward to it this year.

2. I've always taken my kids to the polls.
This time is my daughter's second presidential election (she wept after the last one) and my son's first. We're all going to vote together.

3. If I had kids I would definitely take them.
And if I ever do have any, they will go into the booth with me or my husband every election. I think it's very important to get them used to being involved.

I'm so glad that you get to share this election with your daughter.

5. My older kids crack me up when they tell me what they were thinking

when I took them voting when they were little. Our mechanical voting machines really impress toddlers!

11. Do you still vote on the machines with all the levers?
Those always impressed me as a kid. It looked very confusing.

14. Of course! New York told the feds we'd switch to new electronic machines once
some one proved they were as fool-proof as our old ones!

6. No. They have school that day. Our polling place is actually the kids' school -
so they will be there in a sense.

Mr. LIW is planning to take the day off and we've volunteered to drive Democrats who need rides to their polling places, so the kids might get to ride along after school.

7. I've been taking mine since he was born.. in 2006, he helped to push the buttons on
the screen, in late January, he helped push buttons for the primary, we have to fill in circle this time, so I'll let him feed the paper into the opti-scan, and of course, wear the I voted sticker.. He's almost 4 this year..

9. I vote absentee
but I let my son (9) help fill out my ballot. He is so excited about the process. Then we walked to the mailbox and he dropped it in.

13. Make sure there aren't any restrictions first.
In Maryland you can take 2 kids under the age of 13 to vote with you. Those older have to wait for you to finish. I worked the polls 2 years ago & it came up.

16. I took mine; and he says he voted a straight Dem ticket, too.
I didn't take him in 2006 because he was working the polls, but I did take him lunch there.

18. I am!
I am taking my daughter so she remembers when Daddy voted to change the world and exorcise our national demons. I want to talk with her as an adult in many years, and reflect back on the 2008 election as the time when our country veered back toward sanity.
