Edwards in Stevens Pt. WI vs Las Cruces, NM....what a difference!
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 05:11 PM by Gloria
I watched the replay of Edwards' rally in SP, WI which I believe was on Friday. I went to the Edwards' rally here about a week and half ago, the one that they put together the same day Bush was in town ripping up airport runways...

What a difference!!!! The speech Edwards gave here was basically his Convention speech. The crowd like it, but I found it a bit boring. I thought he was a good speaker, it's just that there was nothing very exciting in the content of the speech, nothing new.

Well, the speech he gave in WI on Friday was entirely different! He was introduced by Obey, who had a few really good lines. But Edwards' stump speech has been totally revamped and reenergized. While what I heard here in Mesilla made very little mention of Bush policies, the WI speech was almost entirely about direct comparisons to Bush policies. Edwards kept asking "Who's side is he on?" or something similar--often, "We're on
your side." I thought that was extremely effective.

The close was something he did down here, but the meat of the speech was DEFINITELY NEW...

Hope they keep this up!

1. Edwards
As you can see from my logo, I'm a huge Edwards fan and volunteered for his campaign in S.C.

I hope he and Kerry truly have a partnership, where Edwards can just be himself, which is funny, down to earth and devastatingly effect. Time to put those trial lawyer skills to use in front of the biggest jury of his life - - and ours.

I think they will...things are moving Forward Now!!

Thanks for reporting this, Gloria. I'm looking forward to hearing Edwards again after that stimulating Convention speech he gave. I'm so happy he's on our Side!

4. A rousing speech
I didn't know he was taking a new approach with the Stevens Point speech, but I caught it on C-Span and was very impressed. Obey was fantastic in ontroducing him and, when he talked about his sister dying, quite powerful and forceful. I wonder what kind of crowds Edwards is getting these days.
