A note to all the "fucking rednecks" and B-faced carvers out there
And generally a note for all those that know for whatever reason that they're about to become very famous suddenly:

If you have personal webpages/Facebooks/Myspaces/Twitters/screen names/Photobuckets/Youtube channels/DU profiles....make sure you go over all of them with a fine tooth comb before you go big. People are interested in finding out things about people that get famous overnight.

Actually, even if you do NOT think you're about to become famous, think for a moment about what you type online. You are NOT anonymous. Keep as many things private as possible and when you post things, remember that there's always an extremely small chance that your online history is going to go public.

I just had an amazing thought. What is the vetting process going to be like 25 years from now when people my age start running for president? The extensive online profiles people have going back years are going to provide a lot of people a lot of juicy morsels.

1. YOU couldn't run for president...
...not after the opposition reads up on you in the DU archives.

4. Lord don't I know it
That's why I'm not planning on creating any sort of hoax involving presidential politics and scary tall black guys anytime soon. :)

5. Exactly. I mean, even the name 'Bi' coastal. I think you're screwed there.

6. I'm not Bi, but it's amazing how many people think I am from my DU name...
...even though it's just because I'm a Los Angelino living in Brooklyn.

Common problem, these screenname assumptions. Elrond Hubbard had many thinking he was a Scientologist because they didn't get the LOTR reference.

7. I was just kidding with you. I never did think you were bi. I always thought it meant what you
just said it meant.

3. There will be so much dirt online, it will lose its meaning
Just look at how no one cares about Obama or Bush's past drug use. The same will go for stupid stuff people typed online 20 years ago.
