Has Kerry played into Rove's hands? |
|
So far, the Bush campaign has had its way. To wit, Kerry did not respond swiftly enough (no pun intended) to the attacks on his service. I believe the Bush campaign took a gamble that he wouldn't. They calculated that Kerry would take the high road. He did, and it was a mistake. Rove gambled and won. Now Kerry is hitting back, perhaps too late. I fear this may be again what Rove wanted. Kerry NOW talks about Cheney and Bush's deferments, and Rove will have Bush start talking about issues. Hence, Bush will be able to say that the campaign should be about issues and I've moved on. Why hasn't Kerry? So far, DUers, this campaign is being run solely on Bush's terms. If it continues, we lose.
It does remain to be seen how much impact Ben Barnes' 60 Minutes interview next Sunday has. Will it cause veterans to reassess Bush? Or will they just not care? I suspect Bush will, at Rove's instruction, simply ignore the interview, counting on the rest of the media to do the same. The question will be, what should the Kerry campaign do with it? They can't spend too much time harping on it, hoping that it will eventually do to Bush what the Swift Boat Liars did to Kerry. There isn't time. I don't think Kerry should just let it go. He just needs to watch the clock. If after a short time it is evident that the interview had no impact he will just have to chalk it up to Bush being Teflon and move on.
Again I come back to the other scandal. Someone, somewhere has to connect Rove to the phony felon lists in Florida in 2000 and again this year. If the connection is made THAT will be something to hammer on, particularly with African Americans who were targeted for misidentification as felons not eligible to vote. It's not just racist on its face. It's racism in its ugliest form. At times I think Kerry should just start talking about Rove and the lists even without solid proof. Hey, it worked for the Swift Boat Liars! Perhaps some journalists who believe in journalism (are any left?) would look into it a little deeper and find out what I know to be true: that it was a deviously brilliant Machiavellian scheme by Karl "Dirty Trickster" Rove.
I realize the election is still close. I also am aware that Kerry has been through this before. However, it's a hell of a lot easier to close the gap in one state than in a national race. So I close with a plea to those of you in swing states. (I'm in Illinois. Kerry's a lock here, as is Obama). Do what you can to make sure everyone who you know wants Kerry to get out and VOTE! This election will be all about turnout.

One thing I've also posted before is that Rove and the Bush family are obsessed with not having a legacy of 2 one term Presidents in the family. And obsession can cloud your judgment and get you.

3. Do you think Bush played into Kerry's hands? |
|
By doing what everyone knew he would do? By getting down and ugly and showing just how NOT compassionate he is? Do you think that is why Bush is having to campaign every day, all day, all over? Is that why he is having to depend on the media lies to keep alive the illusion that he has a campaign?

4. This is not the first time you've posted this. |

Do you really think this is important enough to post over and over? I mean, we can tell how much you idolize KKKarl Rove.

Thanks for responding. First of all, I admit that I'm frustrated that it hasn't been brought up by the campaign. I have yet to see Moore's film but I understand it deals with the issue. I believe it could help defeat Bush on Election Day.
I don't "idolize" Karl Rove AT ALL, believe me. The guy is the worst sort of scum in politics. I'd like to see him indicted, tried, convicted and sent to prison. I'd throw a goddam party.
I have posted this before. I have also sent emails and faxes to Congressmen, Senators and the Kerry campaign (and called Kerry HQ in Illinois). It's my way of trying to be proactive. I feel very strongly about this and I feel - as I know you do - that nothing is as important as sending Bush back to Crawford. That is why I am looking forward to the 60 Minutes interview next week. I hope it turns every veteran against Bush and swings the tide our way.

I think Bush has to campaign every day because he knows he's not a lock to win this thing. It's going to be very close again. I agree that the media lies for him, but I don't know that I'd call his campaign an "illusion". If you recall, after the 2000 election, Bush was congratulated for running a great campaign by none other than Bill Clinton. Bush is ruthless, shameless, manipulative and without introspection. All he gives a damn about is winning, which in his mind would legitimize the 2000 fraud. That attitude could do him in OR be what he needs to put him over the top on Election Day.
