AP story:

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama reports raising $36 million for his campaign
during the first two weeks of October.

Obama's fundraising pace showed a marked decline compared with the $150 million he raised in September.
That's according to a financial report he filed with the Federal Election Commission late Thursday.

Obama spent more than $105 million from Oct. 1 to Oct. 15. At that pace he would more than double his record
spending from September. He had nearly $66 million in the bank at the end of the two-week period.

John McCain and the Republican National Committee reported having a combined $84 million as of last week to
spend before Election Day.

2. He better spend it all...
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 12:21 AM by gmoney
Kerry SERIOUSLY pissed me off by hitting me up for more and more money right down to the wire, and I stupidly kept contributing, only to find out that he still had millions of unspent money in the war chest AFTER cowardly conceding the election, despite all the voting irregularities. I believe he could have used that money for legal challenges, paying for recounts, etc. But no...

I've contributed to the Obama campaign and they keep asking for more... I'm pleased that he's flush with cash, but at this point, is there anyplace left he can spend it, other than Neiman Marcus?

If he has money left after he wins, can I get a rebate?

If he has money left over and somehow manages to NOT win, I think I'll give up forever on Dems.

5. Any monies left over will be given to the DNC when O wins the presidency, which is not a bad plan.

However, Team O's burn rate is quite high and they will not find it hard to spend almost everything they have.
I trust that they are not planning on making the same mistakes as the Kerry campaign made in 2004.

3. According to their numbers he's on track to raise $75 million in Oct.
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 12:26 AM by GrizzlyMan
That's about a 2.5 million per day average which is half the daily average for Sept. I would think that he saw an increase in donations after the last debate. At any rate, I'm gonna send him some more, even though my wife thinks we've already given enough.

Given the $66 million he had on hand as of Oct. 15 plus another $36 million raised for the rest of the month would give him a little over $100 million to spend in Oct. to possibly as much as $120 million.

6. MSM is making this out to be some sort of "collapse" in donating to Obama >:(
even though he'd be on his way to making about $80million in a month. I'm going to send in $25 to spite them, join me DUers! Yes We Can!
