13. I'm pretty sure Mika misspoke. They intro-ed the speech when it started as

"Palin's first major policy speech" - no 'foreign' involved. I did a double take when I heard that too... but I really think Mika simply goofed up.

As far as the speech is concerned, I couldn't watch it, and the issue is one I care deeply about and have personal experience with. But hearing someone with zero credibility talk about something like this is one I can't stomach, so I switched to something less brutal - CNBC. I'm hoping the opening bell preempts Palin because I can't listen to her right now.

Of course we all know that the VP doesn't really need to know about foreign policy stuff as her job will be to sit around the senate and tell people what to do. You know, bang the gavel and all that.

Palin to Give Deposition Friday

Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin will take a three-hour break from the campaign trail Friday to give a deposition on her role in the firing of an Alaska public safety official, the Associated Press reported today.

The Alaska Personnel Board is conducting the investigation, led by an independent counsel.

It will be the first deposition of the Alaska governor, but the second inquiry into the matter. The first investigation by the Alaska state legislature found that Palin abused her power in her efforts to get her former brother-in-law, a state trooper, fired.

Palin was not subpoenaed in the first probe, although her husband, Todd, gave an affidavit. Todd Palin is also expected to give a deposition Friday.
