1. Tell me more!
What places can you recommend?

I'm thinking of Amtrak to Union Station right downtown and I'm looking at some inexpensive but safe places to stay!

Congrats!

11. I have a room at the Congress Plaza Hotel across from Grant Park
I'm taking Amtrak also and meeting my 70 yr old aunt. I think she's even more excited than me about seeing him.

And get a good price? LOL! No seriously, did you get a deal?

I remember Chicago in 68 and now we have Chicago 08, what a historical difference.

6. I check expedia to get an idea of the surrounding area and location...
then go to the site for the individual hotels to make the reservation. its always been cheaper for me that way.

5. leaning toward Hutchinson Field on the south end of Grant Park
http://cbs2chicago.com/local/obama.election.night.2.841341.html

It's not a done deal yet, but all indications are that campaign officials are leaning toward Hutchinson Field on the south end of Grant Park as the site of their election night party.

The field is home to softball diamonds, the popular summer Lollapalooza music festival and was the site of the mass Pope John Paul held in Chicago nearly 30 years ago.

7. We have a bunch of hotels across the street
from Midway airport http://www.midwayhotelcenter.com/?src=ppc_yahoo_brand.
The orange line is only blocks away which will take you a couple blocks away from Grant Park. My family will be taking the Orange line to the event. I can't wait!

13. Will parking be insane or will it be doable?
Are they going to raise the rates to $100 or $1000 a spot?
