Early Look at Obama Speaking Spanish in New Ad

Someone has leaked an early version of a new Barack Obama campaign commercial during which the senator speaks only in Spanish, in an appeal to the nation's Latino voters. The above version is not the final version that was set for release on Monday and campaign sources say they are trying to figure out who leaked it ahead of time.

"We have a dream that if you work hard, your family can prosper," Obama says in the ad. "That if you get sick, you'll have health insurance. That our children can get a good education. If you're rich or poor, this is the American dream. I'm asking for your vote, not just for me and the Democrats, but also in order to continue that American dream, for you and your children."

The final version of the ad will contain the same message but is expected to include some "smoother editing" according to the campaign source, who said the campaign is "really really upset" that someone released the ad early to news organizations, especially since "We run a very tight ship."

The campaign hoped to make a big deal about the fact that this is the second time Obama has delivered a Spanish-only message in a TV ad and that he's the only presidential candidate to ever do so. Back in May ahead of the Puerto Rico primary, Obama delivered a Spanish-only message to voters in Puerto Rico ahead of the island's primary, telling them that "Naci en una isla," or, "I was born on an island."

The final version of the ad is expected to air in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, and New Mexico, where all of Obama's Spanish TV ads have aired before, but the campaign source said it will also air in other states where the campaign's Spanish ads have never before aired

What next from these guys - Obama speaking Mandarin to help increase numbers in San Francisco?

5. I must say, he looks a lot more natural speaking Spanish than I think McCain would be.
For one thing, I've seen many Latinos of colour, and for another, I don't think I've ever seen a Latino as pasty-looking as the Republican nominee.

Now, what would seem a bit funny would be Obama speaking Norwegian. Not a lot of black Norskies.

6. Okay, not fluent in Spanish but he looks pretty goddamn awesome speaking it.
Anyone of my Spanish speaking DUers know if he did a great job or not on it?

Is it too much to want him to make multiple language ads now because he's so awesome at it? :)

8. An article several months ago...
mentioned he was a fairly good Spanish speaker, and highly fluent in Indonesian. Although I'm not expecting any Indonesian commercial.
