Pa. Police: McCain Worker Lied About Attack
Pa. Police: McCain Worker Lied About Attack
PITTSBURGH (CBS) ― Police sources tell CBS station KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh that a campaign worker has now confessed to making up a story that a mugger attacked her and cut the letter "B" in her face after seeing her McCain bumper sticker.

Ashley Todd, 20, of Texas, initially told police that she was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield and that the suspect became enraged and started beating her after seeing her GOP sticker on her car.

Police investigating the alleged attack, however, began to notice some inconsistencies in her story and administered a polygraph test.

Authorities, however, declined to release the results of that test.

Investigators did say that they received photos from the ATM machine and "the photographs were verified as not being the victim making the transaction."

This afternoon, a Pittsburgh police commander told KDKA Investigator Marty Griffin that Todd confessed to making up the story.

The commander added that Todd will face charges; but police have not commented on what those charges will be.

According to police, investigators working on the interview process detected several inconsistencies in Todd's story that differed from statements made in the original police report.

Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Diane Richard released a statement earlier today, saying: "Because of the inconsistencies in her statements, Ms. Todd was asked to submit to a polygraph examination which she agreed to do."

No photos of Todd are being released by Pittsburgh Police at this time.

The investigation is continuing as officials determine what charges will be filed.

3. Filing a false police report and lying to the police would be my
guess.

I never condone criminal activites, but really STUPID CRIMINALS piss me off! Like I used to tell my kids when they were growing up, "If you're going to tell me a lie, AT LEAST make it believable!"

4. There were quite a few
people here who elected to "believe."

I need to contact them and ask to borrow their credit cards.

5. I think most people are very hesitant to disbelieve a victim because
for so many years women were afraid to report violence against them for fear they'd be blamed. That's changing, but still exists. SHAME on this young girl for putting that problem back 10-20 years!

8. The entire rep. campaign is predicated
on setting women and minorities back 10-50 years.

Fortunately, we live in the 21st century with computers and everything.

7. As Ronnie Raygun said
"trust but verify". In the case of these f'ers on the right I prefer verify and then still be skeptical!

9. McCain and his moose killer sidekick
were all too ready to believe - calling and telling her how sorry that the bad, black, Obama supporter had hurt her and that they were going to make all the bad black people pay for voting for the bad terrorist.
Remember, when they say "He is not like us" it's code for "he isn't white."

And they say they are not racists.

10. They only lack the rope and hoods
then again maybe not, who knows what they are hiding in that plane with the $150,000 wardrobe.

Who is the real Sarah Palin?

Why does she associate with anti-American secessionists who hate America?

Who is the real John McCain and why does he support a domestic terrorist who advocates shooting ATF agents in the head?

6. Where are all the "concern trolls"
with their apologies to those that questioned this from the beginning.

Not holding my breath.

12. There is about
3 to 5 posts already saying how sorry they feel for the poor girl.

But they lag behind us heartless bastards by about 10 to 1.
