8. This is not live, by the way. |
|
This is in OH I believe, I watched it about 5 hours ago and I think it was not even live then.
Great speech though, but Kerry does need to be careful about 'sputtering' when he forgets how he's going to finish his point. He needs to hit each point precisely and STOP -- Don't continue with superfluous words. Let the important words sink in.

25. Yes! I thought the same - Kerry's speech was exciting to hear - - - |
|
11 Presidents - have had to create jobs during wartime - - - what do you think Roosevelt did? What do you think Truman did? - named a few more, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon? George W Bush blames the war for job loss - Kerry says bush is the only president who isn't creating jobs during wartime because he doesn't know how to do it.
Like Bill - You're right! Kerry is using a Clintonesque manner of speech-giving. It's more intimate and allows him to have a conversation with the crowd while giving a policy speech. Very inclusive. "That's W" - I'm waiting for Kerry to get more comfortable with this new "that's W," phrase. He seems a little stiff delivering that one for now. I think it'll sound good if he can raise his voice a little or change his tone of voice a little - while shaking his head softly while saying it - then enumerate his points.
"Idear" - I heard him say 'idear' the other day and cringed. (I'm a tolerant Minnesotan, for reference) He used the word 'idea' many times in this speech - and it sounds like he has toned down the 'r' at the end of the word. Good.

26. you reminded me - Kerry used "fool me once, shame on you, |
|
fool me twice, shame on me," referring to bush bait and switch (Kerry didn't use those terms though)
I thought it was interesting Kerry used that shame phrase, since it's become known as bush's misspeak, in F9/11.

I just caught the tail end of it on C-span, but from what I saw it was a marked improvement. Agree with earlier posts that he seemed almost Clinton-esque.
