I completed election judge training today. Good system with one exception. |

This was for Montgomery county, Maryland. The chain of custody/paper trails for the machines and electronic voter access card (the ballot) is very thorough and secure. Unfortunately there is no paper trail or receipt for the actual vote itself. There is a summary printed tabulation by voting machine but we are dependent on Deibold for the final total count. I suspect it will all work out fine but it still makes me a bit nervous.

We are voting on iVotronic machines. No paper ballot - no paper trail. Just a final tape at the end. Also, we were told that no one is to be given a paper ballot even if they request one. I asked a question about what if someone comes in and says they registered, but they aren't in our books. In that case, they are permitted to complete a paper ballot.

2. We call that a provisional ballot. |

A provisional (paper) ballot is only given to voters under certain special circumstances. They said more 95% of our voters will vote electronically.
