McCain on MTP: In serious denial |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 10:55 AM by Higher Standard
This is a key problem for McCain. Rather than acknowledging and accepting the reality that his poll numbers are, in general, terrible and operate based on that, he chooses to dismiss any polls that show any more than a 3 point difference between himself and Obama, despite Brokaw pointing out that most polls are showing a larger gap. This doesn't make McCain seem optimistic, it just reinforces the message that he's out of touch, in this case with his own popularity or lack thereof. It mystifies me that there are people trust that this guy will understand the issues that are important to them.

he's either in serious denial, as you've said, or, if you go back to 2000 when Bush lost FL yet was smug he'd won, you'd get a chill down your spine. McCain has essentially guaranteed he's going to win the election, when the proof says exactly the opposite. I'm sorry, but I can't help but be a little disturbed by this. It plays into my worst, most paranoid fears about this election. It's as if the Bushies have whispered into his ear, 'Don't worry. We've got you covered. Just pretend like you're fighting in Pennsylvania and we'll hand you the rest.'
Or, again, he's just fucking nuts, pure and simple.

5. Of course he's going to say that |
|
What else do you expect him to say? "Well, Tom, I don't think we have a chance....but we're going to go out next week and get it the old college try on the campaign trail".
He's simply trying to keep his supporters pepped up.

8. Brokaw all but licked his shoes clean. Geez. |
|
What a love fest.
mclame got to make lengthy campaign speeches while Tommy all but apologized for asking about the polls, or the wolf killah from wassilah, and then closed with the military hero testimonial.
It should be called: MTP= meet my pick.
