"Sassy" Hasselbeck: Criticism Of Palin's Clothing Expenditures Is "Deliberately Sexist" (VIDEO)
At a Sarah Palin rally in Tampa, Florida today, "The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck slammed media coverage of the $150,000 in Republican National Committee expenditures on high-end clothing for Palin.

"Now, with everything going on in the world, seems a bit odd," Hasselbeck said. "But let me tell you, this is deliberately sexist."

In a moment of unintended irony, an audience member cat-called Hasselbeck with a whistle in the seconds after she made the comment.

Hasselbeck, describing herself as "sassy," then added that she was "most impressed by her accessories," including an American flag pin in honor of Palin's son, Track, who recently deployed to Iraq. "They didn't list that accessory... because they know it's priceless."

3. Show us the receipts!!! If they already returned 1/3 of the clothes
it should be very simple to post the receipts on the inter-tubes. Show the effin' receipts!

Also, make a very public apology for all the "Al Gore and his earthtones" bullshit from 2000!!

Then, STFU about it and it should go away.

4. So illegally spending $150,000 in donated campaign funds is somehow progressive?
Sometimes, I wonder what planet these people came from.

6. Gotta love that selective sexism, you sassy vixen you.
Did anyone else notice the irony of crying sexism one moment and calling herself "sassy" the next? Then, of course, the ignored cat-call from the audience, complimenting palin's accessories and even slipping in a "mop" reference?

How could any woman (or man) take a claim of sexism seriously when those whining about it don't take it seriously, themselves?

12. I think that Joy is getting really fed up with her- I've noticed Joy going farther than she usually
does lately. Joy was just on Larry King, and I only caught the tail end, but she was talking about how McCain seems really upset these days, and she wonders if he never got therapy after he was tortured. And she said "These "friends" ....who ARE these people he keeps talking about?!" and "I don't usually get so involved in putting myself out there for a candidate, but I feel very strongly about it this year. I was strong for Hillary too, but when she didn't make it, I became strong for Obama."

14. That's almost as bad as that Northern Exposure chic....
.... on the Mike Huckabee show defending Palin saying, "She didn't know how much those clothes cost!"

I would GUARANTEE you ...... PLACE MONEY on the fact that Michelle and Barack have had an ACTUAL conversation about making sure nothing she wore could be characterized as elitist, even though they paid for it with their own money.

If Palin wants to run with the big dogs, you HAVE to think of these things. You MUST be mindful of your image at all times and prevent negative issues from arising.

If Palin is to be trusted with leading this country, she should have been smart enough to see this one coming.

And so should McCain. Yet another example of them dropping the ball.

15. Her assumption that women are shopaholic mall denizens and profligate spenders
of other people's money when given the chance is itself sexist. I don't think most women would identify with Sarah Palin's behavior and find it to be the norm, except for maybe Cindy McCain or Imelda Marcos.

Her inner ugliness and ignorance she is happy to show us, and yes keep it up, obscures anything else that might be positive about about her.

Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 11:21 PM by merh
I may watch it tomorrow to see how her co-hosts respond to her sexist remarks.

If you have ever participated on a mixed forum with righties you know that they substitute snark and insults for wit and substance. When the going gets tough, the right gets snarky and "sassy". They are about as deep as a bird bath in the desert.
