McClatchy news service propaganda: "Is Barack Obama a real American or a Harvard elitist?"
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 10:46 PM by Blondiegrrl
snippets:

DURANGO, Colo. — There's no question about it, John McCain's supporters said. We are the real Americans, and folks who support Barack Obama aren't.

If Obama wins, said Craig Jederlinic, an Albuquerque radio station programming director, "It wouldn't be God Bless America, but God help America."

"A real American is the kind of person who lived in my old neighborhood," said Doris Waywell-Smith, a retiree who ran a beauty shop in Mt. Sparta, N.J. "They all did the same thing. They wanted to get their hair done on Saturday and go to dinner Saturday night. They were all ethnic and minority groups, and they just wanted to live a good middle class life."

When she looks at Obama, she sees someone who's "a Harvard elitist. He never grew up in a middle class environment. He understands Harvard elitists and movie stars."

Reese Resnick, a Durango oil and gas industry salesman, grew up in a small Texas town, the only son in a family of seven.

"I had to work for everything I got. That's what I was taught, and Sarah Palin understands that," he said. "People like Obama, they get driven in vans all over Washington. Palin's a working mom."

McCain and Palin understand the middle class but Obama doesn't. Unfuckingbelievable.

2. They say that, but they mean "he's an uppity...you know the rest"
It really is that simple.
And they are that simpleminded.

5. "He's not one of us." That quote made me see red.
It was spoken by a DISTRICT ATTORNEY, no less, not some factory worker bringing home ten dollars an hour.

To me, "not one of us" seemed code for "not white like us."

I saw it on google news a few hours ago. Who says you can't go to harvard and be an american? Know who else went to Harvard? Bush (and Gore for that matter). Do these braindead fucktards even care how stupid they are making the republican party look?

7. Harvard elitists who are not real Americans:
John Adams
John Quincy Adams
John F. Kennedy
Franklin Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt

Oh, and George W. Bush, though I suppose that old bag would give him a pass on the whole "real American" thing.

Say! Are these 'real

Say! Are these 'real Americans' the ones that voted for Bush twice? The ones that sit on their fat butts watching TeeBee while the Bush Crime familly has destroyed the nation.

Them...

Ask yourself, do I want to be on the same side as them?

What, exactly, is the point

What, exactly, is the point of this story? Why uncritically transcribe all the barely veiled racism of these right-wing fringe mrns without nary a mention of the obvious - that their "patriotism" is a cover for good old-fashioned white supremacy?

The Founding Fathers were
Submitted by kudzu on October 27, 2008 - 2:58am.
The Founding Fathers were among the most sophisticated intellectuals of their time. They were men who looked to Europe for wisdom, to the classics for solace, and to reason and--yes, elitism--for clarity.

Eight years ago we elected a guy most "real" Americans said they would have liked to have a beer with and we rejected two educated, smart, worldly elitists who have a clue how to run things. Look at the consequences of that decision.

What you see today, the sorry state our country is in, is the result of letting ignorant hicks like the "real" Americans who support McCain and Palin have a saying on how this country should be governed.
