How would you handle the "flip-flop" charge of the Bush campaign ?
Personally, I think Kerry should take it head-on and get it out of the way...at least, he could defuse it to a large extent. He could say:
"Let me address this flip-flop charge by the Bush bunch...they love name-calling and negative politics, but "flip-flopper" fits George Bush better than any politician in America. I guess they must think people will not remember that it was George W Bush that has "flip-flopped" on almost every major question of the day. He didn't support a 9/11 commission. Then he did. He didn't support Homeland Security, then he did. He thought the war was winnable, then he didn't think it was winnable. Then his handlers pulled him aside and now he thinks the war is winnable again. So when they start talking about "flip-flopping", people need to understand that it is George W Bush they are talking about." I hope we can get off this petty and negative name-calling and talk about the issues...."

1. I agree...
each time a surrogate points it out on OUR behalf...(like some kerry talking heads) the bushites ignore it completely..but we have to hammer it away...and we have to point it out...that GWB is a flip flopper...

2. That sounds about right to me.
Most of all, I agree that he needs to address it. Ignoring the issue makes it seem like he admits that * is correct.

3. It would nice if the media reported
that the Bush crowd was prompted today to make arm signals back and forth yelling flip-flop everytime the President brings up a supposed flip flop of Kerry. After Bush says it, he will pause and that is your cue. Indtead we get the media showing these bozos this AM. Is that going to be the mantra every morning on the news now till Nov?

4. They should handle it just like you said,
especially the last line. The more they are called on their petty political BS, the better.

6. They can't "handle" it...
They need to get phrases like this for Bush. Flip-flopper is already used.

8. Here's a flyer that uses Bush's own words

I’m a war president.
February 8, 2004

Nobody wants to be a war president. I’m a peace president.
July 20, 2004

I have a clear vision and a strategy to win the war on terror.
July 14, 2004

I don’t think you can win (the war on terror).
August 30, 2004

I want justice (for Bin Laden). And there’s an old poster out West...that says, ‘Wanted: Dead or Alive.’
September 17, 2001

I don’t know where (Osama Bin Laden) is. You know, I just don’t spend that much time on him... I truly am not that concerned about him.
March 13, 2002

You can’t distinguish between al Qaeda and Saddam when you talk about the war on terror.
September 25, 2002

We’ve had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved in September 11th.
September 17, 2003

If we don’t stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we’re going to have a serious problem coming down the road.
October 3, 2000

We will be changing the regime of Iraq, for the good of the Iraqi people.
March 6, 2003

We found the weapons of mass destruction. We found biological laboratories...for those who say we haven’t found the banned manufacturing devices or banned weapons, they’re wrong, we found them.
May 29, 2003

We haven’t found stockpiles yet, and there’s theories as to where the weapons went. They could have been destroyed during the war. Saddam and his henchmen could have destroyed them as we entered into Iraq. They could be hidden. They could have been transported to another country...

10. George is the Flip-Flopper in Chief. We can't compete with that.
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 12:22 PM by MissMarple
A list of the growing number of flip-flops pinned to the top of the GD Campaign 2004 Forum would be a useful resource. Surely someone has an up to date list of George's flips and flops. Perhaps we could prevail upon Skinner to pin it.

Against a 9/11 commisssion, for a 9/11 commission.
Against "homeland" security, for "homeland" security.
Can win war on "terra", cannot win war on "terra",can win
war on "terra'.

Well see, NRK already has a good start. :bounce:

(I shouldn't take so long composing a post.)
