Chill out, Obama's going to win, here's why
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 02:12 AM by thesubstanceofdreams
Part of the media is trying to portray a close election, and one can feel letdown when a poll isn't so great for Obama in a place like Indiana.
BUT, keep this in mind:

1) According to RCP or any other polling aggregate website, Obama leads by at least 6% AND is above 50% in ALL of the Kerry states, plus IA, NM, CO and VA. These states are enough to push him over the 270 EVs needed to win, with a state to spare. This is a solid, structural lead just 8 days from the election, and doesn't even take into account the smaller leads Obama has in OH (where his current RCP average is 49.9%), FL, NC, etc.

2) Look where the candidates will spend the remaining days of the campaign: FL, OH, VA, NC, MO, IN (Per NYT, see http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/27/us/politics/27campaign.html?hp). This means that except for the quixotic attempt to grab PA, McPalin has given up on actually trying to win the election, and is instead focusing on avoiding a historic landslide.

Obama is going to win. Don't let up and act as if he was trailing, but he's going to win.

1. Yep.....
and Obama has been innoculated of any last minute hits by the McCain campaign's dirty tactics and pettyness. Anything the McCain camp has at this late date has already been made suspect, cause they already went too far.

So, yeah, you're correct.

2. It's not enough for Obama to win...
...he needs to preside over a country not decimated by a RW scorched earth agenda.

4. Unfortunately, he'll have a lot of clean-up to do.
We all face very tough challenges, but at least we'll have a strong, wise leader and a government that will not continue to make things worse.

5. We need a clear mandate...
and to clean up on all the house seats we can. Palin McCain are getting pushed by the RNC to stop the bleeding in local contests cause they know he's probably going to lose. That is unless they just know the fix with Diebold is in... McCain is making odd guarantees. I don't like the sound of that. Sounds just like Peter King bragging about the election being over because they counted the votes.

6. What local candidates want their "help"?

It would be almost like having Bush campaign for you at the moment.

7. Agreed, but
base my calculations on turn out in the primaries (because people don't vote in the primary to then not vote in the general election and turn out in many cases for either Obama or HRC was more than the entire GOP slate of candidates) . It will be a landslide for Obama and this has been in the making for a very long time.
