Why do I only see the young blond girl on stage with him and his wife. I assume the girl is another daughter.

West Bengal is in India and Bangladesh used to be called East Bengal.

2. Because his racist base won't vote for him if she's around
She's been missing from most of his "family" appearances.

Was that a rhetorical question?

5. Her name is Brigit, adopted daughter from Bangladesh.
It is said she prefers to stay out of the public eye; no doubt largely due to the attacks on her via Rove and Company in 2000. I'm sure, since the McPalin campaign is run by Rove proteges, this is preferred.

It's because McCain is now pandering to the SAME people who attacked him and HIS CHILD in 2000 that I lost all respect for him.

Family values, my ass.

10. Nope. Mccain has SEVEN kids... & only 1 likes media attention
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 06:52 AM by Essene
Many aspects of the mccain/palin campaign are disgraceful, no doubt.

This girl was the center of a lot of nasty commentary in 2000, and I find it perfectly reasonable to assume they just don't want to put her through more hell. It was obvious at the GOP Convention that she's not really into the spotlight. They told the story of mother theresa and how she came to be a part of her family. That was an explicit call to the Right-Wingers to back off... to leave her alone, to leave it at that.

Mccain has SEVEN kids.

Only Meghan likes attention. And it's unfair for us to try to bring extra attention to one of the other six who all clearly want nothing to do with the media frenzy.

27. It's interesting though because he has more than Palin...
yet Palin has made her family a big part of the campaign and McCain never mentions his.

16. I am sorry for asking if that is how my question is taken.
I just wondered why his wife and 1 daughter were on stage with him and the adopted one was not. I did not intend to do any race baiting. I am the most unprejudiced person there is.

15. Why hasn't John Mccain gone to any of his family reunions?
Lillie Mccain said that he was more than welcome to come. They've been meeting for 15 years now and she even wrote him personally hoping that she would receive a response but so far John Mccain has ignored her letters.

Did you know that 911-Joe Mccain and Bill Mccain (brother and cousin of John) have attended several reunions and Bill Mccain even attended a funeral.

....just sayin'.

24. I did not know he had 7 children.
I have never liked him so I have never checked into his family. I read on DU in the past that he had adopted a daughter. I only see the one girl on stage with his wife. She is blond. I assumed that is his daughter. I was curious as to why the only other daughter I was aware he had was not also up there.

I've never heard them mentioned (apart from the adopted one you've just mentioned that was smeared by Rove back in 2000).

28. It was a reasonable question. I've never heard of his 7 children.
It makes you wonder "who is John McCain?" when such simple facts about him aren't part of the public perception.

22. From what I know and understand about his adopted daughter -- Its all Cindy
... reading in an interview in Parenting Magazine with Cindy McCain (apparently John was too busy to sit down with them, but Michelle and Barack Obama both sat down with them for the interview). The adoption of their daughter was all Cindy McCain's doing. She was involved in an over seas charity, and it was suggested that she might be able to find adopting parents in the US for two children. While Cindy was on that quest, she chose to keep one, brought her home and, sort of, surprised John McCain.

Cindy seemed to suggest to me, that the decision to adopt and going through the process was entirely her thing. John McCain wasn't involved, nor had a say in it.

30. Most adoptions are pursued by the wife
That's what I've read in online discussion groups dealing with adoptions. It's the reason they surmise that most adoptive families want girls.

Megan is seen more often because she famewhores herself with her blog. She is also college student age with lots of free time to devote to the election. Bridget is too young and shy--two of the boys are in the military, and the other three are grown with lives of their own.

34. The daughter in question is a very young adult - not yet 21
I believe she's only 18.

And, therefore, most likely pursuing an education - not campaigning.

And frankly, off limits in my opinion. I do not care to emulate Karl Rove.

Issues matter, not the candidates' children.
