Prepare to Experience your First Global Orgasm |
|
In a few days, America will ask us if we will take Barack Obama as our lawfully wedded president, to have and to hold, for better or worse, til 4 or 8 years do us part. Who knows, we could lose our nerve at the altar. A thousand things could go wrong with the ceremony. And apparently a ton of guests have just been dis-invited. But it'll happen. It will. And like any relationship, in two years the fire will be gone and we'll feel comfortable burping and farting around each other. But let's talk about the reception party.
Barring massive, cataclysmic system failure across America, the night of November 4th could be the most intense moment of shared worldwide ecstasy you and I will ever experience in our lifetimes. Humanity will erupt in a cheer that will ring the planet like a bell. And despite our epic ignorance, despite the legendary ugliness of our failures, in spite of all common sense, the world will forgive America as a mother forgives her only son.
A few more parties like this and the world could become a very popular place.

...that sanity has an advocate.
Thank Obama for his hard work over these many months of uncertainty.
The RNC made the same mistake as Hillary -- they discounted Barack's resume and experience as a community organizer. I mean really ...how does one dismiss a savvy Harvard Constitutional Law Professor with local chops?

I think the biggest in my lifetime was when we landed on the moon...
That was a huge global event, with everyone on the planet holding their breath and glued to the TV...
Politics just doesn't compare to a human achievement such as that was in it's day.

Not sure about that. But hell, we'll all have a lot more faith in your collective sanity!
That said, the thing that has kept my faith in Americans these past years has been DU (and Mike Malloy), and I have always known there are a majority of sane, decent people there and this has all been an aberration.
Global orgasm? You betcha! We are all getting lubed up right now. Er, so to speak.
Go America! Go Obama! Go DU!!! Yes, yes, yessssss!!

Americans who don't get out of the US much have no idea how closely this nation's every move is followed elsewhere - like that of a compulsory dance partner.
We are the world, and we want to dance with Obama, that much is for sure.

15. absolutely! I don't think there's a country in the world |

that had more than 20% support for McCain in a world map that was posted here a few weeks ago.
Where I am, EVERYONE who knows about anything expect their own poverty is for Obama, though many liked Bush and most still love America.

I really am ready to leave this world, I've lost hope in it altogether and now I'm just sticking around because my husband and my mom and my best friend need me.
BUT.. next week.. it might even give me a tiny drop of hope :) and that would just about be a Miracle right there.
so k & r!!

|
And I doubt I'll ever see a more united world than we had on that one day....
The world will always see politics from different sides, but there were no sides on that day, when man achieved that ages old dream.
The whole planet held their breath and watched as one...

But yeah, you do seriously have a good point. I think these two events are similar global phenomena. And I think we need to keep 'em coming!
