Bush had a 1.5% lead in the last week before the 2004 election according to
Real Clear Politics and he won by around 2%.

Because I'm a nervous wreck, worried that the smallest gaffe will cost the election, or that some will have a change of heart and vote for McCain, I looked at the RCP polls for the Bush-Kerry election. We're in much better shape now than then.

The BIG topic of water cooler discussion here in FL is how LONG the lines are for early voting. From what I've read, the early voting is heavily favoring Obama. One colleague today said he has gone to vote 3 times already but could not get in at all because the line was so long each day.

What's also interesting is that I voted absentee and so did my wife. The official meme is that absentee voting favors the Republicans. Not in my household's case!!

1. I looked that up a month ago also
When I kept hearing freepers insist that Bush was behind in the polls in 2004 right before the election. They insist this will be another come from behind victory like in 2004. Except I couldnt find anything that supports their theory. Plus thats NOT how I remember 2004 at all.

2. Here's a link to RCP's 2004 Poll Avg. Trend chart that should make this very, very clear
Kerry had a lead in July and August but lost it at the Republican Convention and never regained it in the least.

3. There's absolutely no reason for the long lines in each state except the republicans want to keep
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 01:31 PM by GreenTea
Obama voters from voting....in every swing state we see the same thing....

Led by each swing states Republican Secretary of State, check it out....

And in Ohio, where there is a democratic Secretary of State...the republican party has asked Bush to get the Dept. of Justice into Ohio to uphold the republican purging of Democratic voters....

All over it's 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 or more, in favor of Democratic Obama voters waiting in those long lines that the republicans have purposely created and are orchestrating.

If it was reversed and these were republican areas and McCain voters, the republicans would offer early voters many more machines and ballots easier to cast!

Speak up and encourage everyone you know to vote early.

5. I agree
I'm from a big state and I have never waited more than 10-15 minutes to vote. Waiting for 2-5 hours is outrageous.
