Help! I'm stuck in Freeperville (aka Waycross, Ga)
I'm here for work most of this week, and as I drove through the area, all I have seen is McRage/Failin signs. Then there was this house.

Yes, that is a black "jockey" figurine in the boat under the sign. I'm almost waiting for the impromptu Klan rally to break out. I'm a white guy, but these crazy crackers are scaring me.

I then spent nearly two hours in the hotel bar as I sat with half a dozen of my fellow road warriors. Salesman, workers, and more cheap cologne than I've have the pleasure in some while. Let me tell you what you already know to be true. The white people are scared of a black President. A few show anger, the others just fear and unfounded paranoia. You'd think that Obama was a former Black Panther who was coming for all their white women. I cant wait too see their hollow little heads explode next week when we win. Pray for me the rest of this week that I must spend in South Georgia in The Swampland.

1. Dude
I know what you mean. I spent a week in central Idaho. There were so many crackers I ran out of soup.

4. I don't honestly "laugh out loud" much...
But "There were so many crackers I ran out of soup." still has me howling. Thanks! :toast:

3. I grew up in southern Alabama
My theory is that white people fear black people will treat white people the same way white people treated blacks for so many years. And white people don't think they can handle it.

That said, I love those trees and the grass and the ferns. Southern Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana are beautiful states. I hope that some day the white people will let go of their fears and just enjoy the beauty around them.

8. You summed it up beautifully Frances
That is exactly what they are afraid of.

Ever have a group do the eye color racial test with you? You know, where they say all the blue eyed people are different and not as welcomed in the groups of brown eyed and green eyed people. It's a very telling experiment and changes a person. Wish they would all have to spend a week with the wrong colored eyes and maybe they would have a clue of just what they fear and just what they should work to never allow to happen again EVER.

13. I am so happy for you that your sister and your niece are
voting for Obama.

Which state do you live in? Do you think the South is as beautiful as I do?

12. I grew up in Kingsland.
(Camden). It's bad there now. GA has a lot of wood to chop by way of progression.

11. I can't believe all these little islands of ignorance....
...in the most advanced country in the world. It certainly isn't the country I grew up admiring.

Maybe it always like this, but then they never got this close to actual power before.
