You upload them to a server, like photobucket.com, then just put the url in your sig line.

5. If you take it directly |
|
from the site, you are stealing bandwidth from the site owner, as well as their image. I've had some of my images stolen, and some other linked to, and it's annoying. In one case an image of mine showed up on Free Republic, which really bugged the crap out of me, although I ended up coming out ahead on that deal. ;-)
At any rate, if you're going to use someone else's image get permission, then copy it and upload it to a free site, like the aforementioned photobucket.com. It's then pretty straightforward to add it to your signature by dropping the url into the signature line.
It needs to be a jpeg or gif file, or you'll run into problems in my experience, so if the url you are currently trying to use does not end with .jpg or .gif, that might be the problem.

6. Golden opportunity if freepers link to your pics. |
|
You can set things up so that the picture delivered depends on the referrer. If it is a Freep page referencing the picture, then put in a political cartoon that really grinds ArBusto.

8. I'm betting there are only a few that haven't been stolen from somewhere. |
|
Mine came from http://home.comcast.net/~wizardofwhimsy/index.html. As it says on the front page, "Images can now be linked." I think most of these sites welcome their images to be circulated on the internet. We're all united for the cause!
