The purpose of this thread isn't to debate whether or not a new tape would help or hurt Obama. I think you can make a case for either, or that it may have no effect at all.
Mostly any discussion on this potential message centers on whom it would help or hurt politically.
But what if there was no tape at all? Bin Laden and his cohorts might sit this one out because they see that Obama is going to win, with the country essentially repudiating Bush's policies which would be a lasting embarrassment for the Chimp.
I think there probably will be a tape, but too little has been made for the case as to why there may not be one.
