'Shag the Vote' Launches;
Contact: John Hlinko of ActForLove.org, 202-744-6525, JohnH@Grassroots.com, Web: http://www.ActForLove.org or http://www.ShagTheVote.org

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In effort to engage voters using the world's oldest form of engagement, ActForLove.org, a dating site for activists, today announced that it had teamed with partners to get out the vote -- using free love.

The effort, headquartered at http://www.ShagTheVote.org, will offer free ActForLove.org credits to those who pledge to vote, or take one of a number of activist actions with partners, beginning with Greenpeace, Votergasm, and Environmental Defense. These credits can be used at ActForLove.org to connect with thousands of other activist singles.

"TAKE ACTION, GET ACTION"

"ActForLove.org believes that those who take action deserve to get action," said John Hlinko, founder of ActForLove.org, and vice president with Grassroots Enterprise (Grassroots.com). "With the help of our partners, we hope to entice many people to get to the polls, and help lay the foundation for a better America."

Organizations wishing to join the Shag the Vote Coalition and obtain ActForLove.org credits to promote their causes are encouraged to apply at http://www.ShagTheVote.org.

Visitors to http://www.ShagTheVote.org can obtain ActForLove.org credits through a range of actions with participating partners. Initial actions launching this week include:

-- Votergasm: Pledge to have sex with a voter on election night, and withhold sex from all non-voters

-- Greenpeace: "Save the Roadless Rule" -- An effort to defend the Roadless Area Conservation Rule, which protects 58.5 million acres of forest land

-- Environmental Defense Action Network: "Undoit" -- Fighting global warming by urging President Bush and Congress to support the Climate Stewardship Act

-- ActForLove.org: Taking a pledge to vote on Election Day

"GLANDS ACROSS AMERICA"

The goal of the "Shag the Vote" effort is to drive up voter participation in November, particularly among young voters -- a chronically underrepresented group in national elections.

"Our hope is to engage voters across the nation, from Kissimmee, Fla. ... to Booby Island, Md. ... all the way to Intercourse, Pa.," said Hlinko. "This November, Shag the Vote will put the 'swing' in swing state."
