Obama Stickers for our Trick or Treaters...
We tore off a bunch of Obama stickers and added them to the treat bowl tonight. They were a HUGE hit. Lots of little kids told me how Obama is cool, Obama Rocks, Go Obama - and even a little Yes We Can. Several could be heard yelling from the porch all the way to the sidewalk as they ran off in excitement, "Mom, Look - They have OBAMA Stickers". Ahh, the only thing that made me more proud today, was seeing my little boys in their costumes - and my 4yo asking for his own Obama Sticker. He was a dinosaur, so I guess that makes him Barack-a-saurus Rex or an Obamasaurus.

I had one little McCain kid turn his nose up when he saw the stickers though (around age 9), and after his friends all commented in excitement about the Obama stickers - he mumbled, "Go McCain". I told him (nicely) that's okay, hun -it's a free country, enjoy your candy and have a happy halloween. The poor kid looked so depressed, I almost wanted to give him a hug. Sadly, I think his mom lives a few houses up the block.

Seriously though - knowing I live in a mixed support neighborhood, I didn't push the stickers on the kids. If they saw them, commented or asked about them, they were free to take one along with their candy. But I must say, that if tonight was any indication of the general feeling out there - It's going to be a Great Day on Tuesday. I think we went through around 50 or so stickers. :D

1. Wow
That's a really good idea. I'll have to keep that in mind for 2012.

9. Don't Laugh - but I gave one of those out too tonight.
Along with a Bill Foster sign :D
I'm the Pct. Committeeman - someone asked, and lucky for them - I had one extra Obama sign left. The other I'm holding on to for placing outside of the polls Tuesday Morning :)

4. That was a cool story...
We sat out in the drive way tonight with our Obama signs, shirts, buttons, and Obama pumpkins. We had lots of good comments from the adults as well as the kids, especially from the African American Kids.

7. it's like how many people grow up favoring a sports team without
thinking about it too much - of course, that sort of preference doesn't kill people!

10. We did something similar!

My girlfriend and I made 50 bags of candy, each with... way too much candy in it. I went a little overboard. But on each piece we put a small Obama 'O' sun symbol. Except on the Warheads and Nerds where there was a very small sticker of either a) McCain making a very cranky face, b) a picture of McCain and Bush hugging or c) a mock McCain ad that read "McSame".

I had to be at work, sadly, but my girlfriend handed them out of mostly positive reviews. Kids and teenagers happy to see them, laughing parents... a guy who went and told a cop on us, who then told the guy it was "all the more reason to inspect his child's candy."

We gave out 47 of the 50 bags. I don't know if we'll make a difference, but it was fun and it got around 47 kids to ask their parents about it, I'm sure. :D
