We can register to vote THE DAY OF the election in Wisconsin. Felons who have served their time can vote. Homeless people can vote. All librarians are deputized and can help you register to vote.

Voting in most places involves paper and a pen and is read by an optical scanner. I wish things were more standardized across the country- and I wish they would move in the direction of Wisconsin. Its great to think that people can walk in to a polling place, register to vote, and vote on the same day. WE WANT EVERYONE TO VOTE. (Well the Attorney General doesn't, but that's another story.)

10,000 people in my county have voted early.

2. Yep, our voting system here is great.
Paper ballot, connect the lines by the candidate's name, feed ballot into an optical scanner which, if you have mess up the ballot by something like choosing a straight Democratic ticket as well as voting for Obama the scanner will spit it out and you can redo it. Also, there is a nice paper trail. Registering on voting day is as good as it gets. The basic voting process here is very solid.

3. We could register the same day and early vote here in NC
Which is why McCain is in trouble here

5. I am in Dane.
Milwaukee is a bit more complicated.

8. Why is Milwaukee more complicated?
My first thought was that you were in Dane.

We've had over 15,000 do early vote and about 5,000 absentee vote by mail. County with a population about same as yours.

6. Totally agree
I've been in Madison for over 20 years and love the way we vote here in WI.

7. Agreed - Wisconsin has a great voting setup. In the primaries,
I made a mistake, and the scanner spit it back out, I was given another ballot, made the correction, and it then went through the scanner.
