That's not my opinion. That's the opinion of the woman in charge of Philadelphia elections:

This is not going to be pretty...

1. Democracy becomes awkward when one party has a vested interest in people not voting.

She is a creepy, even if she is a Democrat.

15. Doesn't mean she supports Obama.
More than likely, a McCain supporter.

2. Ugh, that mindset stinks. What if they're not Philly sports fans?
There's so much wrong with that. Voting to me is an obligation, attending a sporting event isn't.

3. Just spoke with my daughter, she is undecided re: when to go
before work or after work?

This is nuts. USA needs to get on the stick and make voting on a Sunday, and make it a holiday. Close everything down. VOTE!!

9. BEFORE WORK!
My polling place is in the lobby of my apartment building (how's that for convenient, eh?). In any case, it makes it easy to observe the lines at various times of day. Early, like as in get there an hour before the polls open and enjoy a cup of coffee, is hands-down the best shot for people who work. In 2004 I got in line 30 min. before the polls opened and I was #19 in line. This year I'll be getting down there around 5:30 so I can vote at 7:00 and then head out to volunteer.

20. Ha!! You are talking about a young lady
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 05:40 AM by 48percenter
who rolls her ass out of bed and into her car to drive to work. She'd never get up early for anything. I will advise her to go before work (actually I think she should take an early lunch and go around 11:00am!)

GOOD LUCK, hope your wait isn't excruciating. :hi: :patriot:

GO JOE-BAMA!!

6. Thats so true, how many times have people waited in lines over night just to buy
tickets for celebrity events, and if you take into account just how important waiting in line to vote is well then this would hardly be seen as a big deal..

12. Maybe 500 people for an Ipod; millions wanting to vote.
Some people either cannot wait 2-3 hours or will not wait 2-3 hours. Why should there need to be such long waits?

11. I'm concerned about my mother.
I'm taking her to the polls on Tuesday. We live near each other and are in the same precinct. She has two artificial joints, walks with a cane, and has heart and breathing problems. There is no way that she can stand in a line for any length of time. If there's a line I will most likely have to take her home then go back and vote by myself. She will be disenfranchised. I wish that we had thought to get her an absentee ballot. We got her one in 2006 because she had just had surgery.

There should be a special line for physically challenged people.

14. Physically handicapped people DO get to vote without delay.
At least this was how we did it in NOVA, where I served as an Election Official.

18. Northern VA.
We had relatives walk in and say their elderly mother was in the car and we let these voters go right to the front of the line. Not sure if this is true everywhere.

19. I'll give it a try.
My entire family has voted at this precinct for years and they always recognize us, the polling place is right across the street from me, so maybe we can get her a break. I've also thought about trying to borrow a wheelchair. I know that she'll be disappointed if she can't vote, she just recently changed her registration to Democrat.

But I won't risk her health.

13. I tried very hard to convince some of my relatives there to get
absentee ballots. Most are older and physically unable to stand for hours in long lines. The best response I got was "We'll check into that". I'm worried!

17. I waited for 3 hours to get on the train yesterday.
It was absolutely ridiculous. Worth it though.
