Associated Putzs (AP) can't even synchronize their inflated story with the accompanying photos...
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 11:13 AM by Triana
LINK:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081101/pl_nm/us_usa_politics_obama_halloween_3

At the link above, their story about "angry" Obama clearly states in the text of the story:

"There was no neighborhood trick-or-treating for the Obama family. "He didn't want to cause a disruption to the neighborhood," campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said."

HOWEVER, the caption to the photos in the article says:

"Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) goes trick-or-treating with his 7-year-old daughter Sasha in his Chicago neighbourhood on Halloween October 31, 2008."

_ _ _ _ _

SO - BESIDES blowing the story all out of proportion about Obama's "anger" (which, even if he was, was JUSTIFIED - the man is just trying to spend some UNINTRUDED-UPON time with his kids), they can't even get THEIR OWN STORY STRAIGHT. First, the article says there was NO trick-or-treating, then the photo caption says they DID go trick-or-treating.

NOT that it matters whether they did or not, but this just illustrates the CARELESS AND SHABBY job AP et al (ie: lame$tream media) does in reporting their CRAP. I H8 the lame$tream media. They can't even get SMALL details right, much less SIGNIFICANT ones.

1. Why do people still think the AP is a credible news source??
The AP Is Breaking More Than News

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/24/AR2008102402757.html

Any young journalist covering a presidential campaign is likely to have read Timothy Crouse's classic book on the 1972 election, "The Boys on the Bus." In the first chapter, the author describes the pecking order of print journalists. At the top of the food chain are the wire-service reporters, particularly the reporters from the Associated Press, the oldest of news organizations -- those hard-bitten, vigilant correspondents who set the agenda for everybody else.

"Wire stories are usually bland, dry and overly cautious," Crouse wrote. "There is always an inverse proportion between the number of persons a reporter reaches and the amount he can say. The larger the audience the more inoffensive and inconclusive the article must be."

These days, Crouse would be in for a shock. Some of the most eyebrow-raising stories this presidential-election cycle have come from a surprising source: the stodgy old AP. And this new boldness is threatening not only the AP's standing as a neutral arbiter of the news but also challenging its relationship with its owners, thousands of struggling U.S. newspapers that are coming to see the AP as a monster of their own creation: a competitor that could hasten their demise.

A sampling of headlines and leads this year:

"Is Edwards Real or a Phony?"

"Mitt Romney's victory in Michigan was a defeat for authenticity in politics."

"John McCain calls himself an underdog. That may be an understatement."

"Obama Walks Arrogance Line"

"Slick Hillary?"

"I miss Hillary."

"Biden pick shows lack of confidence."

2. Lest we ever forget "Write Like Nedra Pickler Day." Google that one if you don't recall it.
Sad that Obama was just trying to walk his daughter to a neighborhood party and was swarmed. A few cute pics would be enough.. because people do want to see them.

AP is just an awful resource for news. they're too all over the place.

6. Jeeze. When those 'sensationalist' headlines - all inflated for shock value are put in one place..
...it really illustrates what absolute CRAP these people are flinging at the public every day as "news". They're like those shit-flinging monkeys - and the public sits there in the audience and just takes it - even considers it somehow credible.

This is why I cut off my cable teevee in 2001 and it appears it has gotten even worse since - online, in print, and on the air.

I H8 these people - to use the oft-repeated sentiment of Mike Malloy about the pigshits (Republicans). I H8 them - the lame$tream media AND the pigshits. Both of them are naught but animal excrement and I get so TIRED of them spinning themselves/it at everyone.

7. My Dad used to be a Managing Editor of a daily
in the Albany, NY area in the mid-late 70s. He knows alot of people in the business, still -- and he says there is a huge movement afoot, more and more papers are writing their own stories and sharing the items with members of the pool. It's already happening in New Hampshire.

Dad says the AP is no longer a credible news source, they are biased and sensationalist - just riding on their glory days of old.

8. Well it's good to know that it's 'known' in the industry that the AP is not credible...
...I wish the public knew that, even if it is already known inside the industry. I can only hope that the AP's public demise as a credible source will soon follow - too many folks still seem to put too much stock in AP "reporting" (such as it is).

They're horribly sensationalist and tawdry.

11. It's sad because they weren't always THAT way
AP was a solid source when Dad was in the industry back in the 60s and 70s. I would often accompany him to his office on Saturdays, and read the stories coming off the wire machine (this big old clunky typewriter machine that clanked out stories 24/7). I think the AP started to slide within the past 10 years.

And now as a result of their rush to get this "Obama's Aunt" story out, they may have violated privacy laws. I hope their ass gets fined, BIG TIME!!!

taking items from every house he visits - and brings his daughter along as an accomplice!

Even though the perpetrators were in disguise, the Associated Press has identified him as none other than Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

10. I knew when Fournication took over, the AP was officially useless. He didn't even deny...
...that he was going to turn it into pigshit propaganda machine.
