Tell me this: Why does Gallup get so much less attention than Zogby?
Those Gallup numbers were huge and based off better methodology and a bigger sample size. To me this is evident. Zogby is B.S. and Gallup has been putting out a decent poll this year because they upped the sample size from previous years. Now they poll about 2,000 to 3,000 people depending on the measure instead of 900-1,200. How does their poll with a 10-point Obama lead get no love on DU? That's huge news.

1. it's get more attention...
because it shows a close election....also, doesn't 538.com show that it is a more reliable poll than Gallup?

6. Quite the opposite
538 has been criticizing Zogby for some time and has credited Gallup with being honest and showing two models to emphasize that there are two different views amongst pollsters on how to weigh likely voters.

10. Zogby has more reliable state by state polls. Not national polls.

4. Considering Gallup has been in business since 1935
I have no idea. It's probably because WE give it attention and so does Drudge because
he seems to likes their numbers better.

Doesn't really matter
All that matters is who wins, not how close people think it will be beforehand.

But to answer your question, news will play up anything that makes it look close now so that they still have a race to cover.

8. Bad polls are always getting the most attention.
But I doubt that many "non-trolls" were scared about Zogby's results. Most other tracking polls were either improving for Obama over the last 2-3 days or showing no change at all. Zogby is either looking for attention - which is my guess - or had a very bad sample.

9. Have I shown you the media consolidation charts yet?
Whichever pollster shows the consolidated media conglomerates' Republican owners team with the best percentages will be featured.

We used to have 50 media companies, therefore a diversity of ownership and owners' preferences.

Now we have FIVE media conglomerates all in Republican hands.
