1. That's one of the chapter one points in the Rove playbook |
|
Always refer to the party as the "Democrat Party." "Democrat" carries negative connotations with conservatives, while "Democratic" sounds positively patriotic.

11. I agree, but that tactic has been used a lot over the past couple of years |
|
I think Bush (only 81 more days :)) still uses it regularly, and even Benedict Leiberman has uttered it at least once.

3. Don't bother. That slur goes back at least to Joe McCarthy. |
|
They leave off the "ic" because they think doing that makes us sound disreputable. And because they know it sets our teeth on edge.
Best to ignore it.

5. I heard Wasserman-Schultz say it yesterday evening... |

I think it's gone beyond the point of fixing it when the professional Democrats use it themselves.

9. The best way to strip insults like these of their power |
|
Is to not let it bother you. Either politely remind them, ignore it, or take the name and use it in defiance. Letting it get under your skin only gives those that use this tactic power they don't deserve.

13. The problem is that it's grammatically improper |
|
Democratic is an adjective Democrat is a noun. Unlike Republicans, spelling and grammar are important to us.

14. Yeah, but the word "Republic" just sounds like a noun |
|
The right wing noise machine has worked for many, many years to give the word "democrat" a bad name. They always try to associate it with anything they don't agree with.
