Some people on here are letting Power get to their Heads.
I just read a thread where the OP thinks people shouldnt be allowed to criticize the new President Obama. Ive seen people say that the Democrats should have Fox News thrown out and disbanded, or have this done to basically everybody that disagrees with us. People are pretending to be into Obama's message of bipartisanship but when it comes time to working with Republicans, many say "HELL NO."

We need to work with other side for the betterment of the country. We shouldnt be limiting people's free speech because Obama is in the white House, and we shouldnt be banning "news organizations" because they disagree with us. Just make em look like fools.

I just feel like some people here as a result to us most likely taking complete control after 8 years need to understand that we dont want to be the Liberal GWB, that is just insane.

1. I doubt anyone here has the negative cajones to organize a movement like that
It's all talk. Stupid, yeah. But all talk no action. And I agree with you because that is not what Obama is all about either.

2. Oh, that's just the kind of talk that comes with winning.
Nothing is going to happen to Fox News, and no one who has any responsibility in the Obama administration would give it a second thought.

As for criticism of Obama, it will start as soon as he takes any action.

14. I don't know what thread you read but
don't you think it might be satirical, just saying all of the Bush people's stuff back to them?

I for one hope the extreme right wing becomes militant and can be dealt with militarily. They have been talking their violent, racist shit for long enough, it is time for them to throw the fuck down--and of course, get slaughtered.

5. Obama has made unity a central pillar of his campaign.
A lot of folks want some payback against the pukes that put us is the shit place we find ourselves in. In reality though the path out of this swamp isn't to wage partisan warfare against the other side.

6. ...but can't we just have BillO's head mounted on a stick?
Please? :D

Glad I haven't seen the posts your talking about - it sounds annoying. Actually, I probably don't see that stuff because I hide all threads that assume we're going to win & want to discuss the Obama Presidency. When we win, then we can discuss the future.

thanks for posting this

that was about the goofiest thing I've ever read on here

Obama NEEDS us to lobby for progressive goals... an end to our neoliberal foreign policy... to preserve Title 9 and Affirmative Action as well, imho... Public Campaign Financing... etc.

Nope, his election is the beginning, not the end.

edited to add ELECTION REFORM and BUSTING MEDIA CONSOLIDATION.... to stop the "cable-ization" of the internet

After having the other side rub our noses in their superior numbers for 6 of the 8 Bush years, I say turnabout is fair play. A little Congressional gamesmanship is fine by me - let those arrogant SOBs hold their meetings in the congressional basement for a while. Take their cushy offices, take advantage of all the perks that come with being the majority.

Humble them. They need and deserve it.

But no president should be above criticism. Not even Barack Obama.

I don't favor having Fox disbanded, but if there's a way to bring them down a few pegs without actually censoring them, by all means let's do it. Maybe make them sit in the back of the press room for daily press conferences and look to other media outlets as a first preference for interviews and exclusives.

Move Fox to the bottom of the list. Don't completely shut them out, but make it clear to them that playing partisan games with the political process while calling yourself 'fair and balanced' will no longer wash.

13. If Obama does win, I don't think we should rubber stamp everything he does
If he is wrong then we should be the first to call him on it. I said something earlier about his decision to go to Iowa instead of PA and just about got my head bitten off. I'm sorry that people think we can't criticize anything about Obama but they are going to be sadly mistaken when they realize that the man isn't perfect.

18. Obama and any other elected official is fair game for criticism and Fuax Suxs should be shut down!
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 05:58 PM by Breeze54
:sarcasm: (about Faux Suxs) :P

Lets bring back the Fairness Doctrine and even the playing fields across the board, as far as the media is concerned
and I don't care who it is screwing up, Dem OR Rethug... I'll call them on it. To do less than that is unpatriotic, imho...
We have to hold them all accountable. That's our job as citizens. When they vote against what is right, then start calling
them and writing letters!! Let them know you are holding them accountable and that you're watching what they do and say!
