Kerry Says Bush Miscalculations in Iraq Cost $200 Bln (Update3)
snip-----
$200 Billion

``While we've spent that $200 billion in Iraq, 8 million Americans are looking for work -- 2 million more than when George W. Bush took office -- and we're told that we can't afford to invest in job training and job creation here at home,'' Kerry said.

Kerry spoke at the Union Terminal Building, the same site Bush used Oct. 7, 2002, to make the case that Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein posed a danger to the U.S. that warranted war.

A protester interrupted Kerry just as he was beginning his remarks. A man wearing a Sheet Metal Workers T-shirt subdued the protester until U.S. Secret Service agents escorted him from the hall.

``It's a terrific tactic by the Bush team, they love to disrupt,'' Kerry said, to a standing ovation. When the cheering subsided, Kerry addressed the issue again.

1003 troops killed. Over 7,000 wounded. For no good reason.

And Bu$h paid $200 billion of our money to do this.

1. A strong argument could be made that to some, a few hundred billion
dollars, possibly tens of thousands of lives, and tens of thousands of maimings are but small prices to pay in the context of the enormous impact on the bottom lines of Halliburton et al. Please excuse the cynicism, but when I hear reports of how well Rummy et al say things are going, those bottom lines are all that come to mind.
