It was an impressive crowd.

The entire football field was filled, and the stadium was packed. The stadium is appropriately called JFK Stadium, and I had a blast standing in line from 2:45 till 9:30 when Obama spoke.

I must say it was 100% worth it to see MY area of Southwest Missouri, a conservative stronghold, come out for Obama.

40,000 fucking people. Can you believe that??

Even Claire McCaskill said she didn't know there were so many Democrats in Greene County. And she pointed out that we outdrew the local favorite Sarah Palin, who only got 10,000 to 15,000 in the Bass Pro Parking Lot. Lines for Obama stretched for two miles or more, up and down the road to JFK Stadium.

Obama does 100,000 in St. Louis, 50,000 in KC, I think I heard he did 30,000 in Columbia, and now 40,000 in Springfield.

Missouri is in sight. YES WE CAN!!

Didn't eat all day. I was so cranky and hungry, but boy--I'm inspired.

6. Missouri will be a nail-biter.
I think Obama will come out ahead, but I bet it'll be a long night for that state.

9. I know, I cried when I looked out on the crowd. It's so inspiring.
I remember walking the streets in 2004, and thinking to myself it's hopeless.

I've never felt more hopeful in my life than tonight.

10. 40K for Obama and 15K (generously) for Palin in a conservative stronghold
:wow:

That is absolutely fantastic. My gosh, this election is seismic. It is going to utterly change not just the politics of the country but its entire character. :woohoo:

11. I LIVED in Springfield and Nixa as a kid!!!
very fundy Pentacostal weird area of Missouri. Amazing if he was able to draw so many. I've lived in St. Louis, Springfield and Rolla in Missouri. St. Louis is more like Chicago and rust belt. Springfield is like Arkansas and the south.

This is a very good sign.

16. I lived in Springfield ...
and then Republic MO, for 15 total months ....

An absolutely disastrous financial turn in my life ....

I am still trying to recover ....

All I had to do was LEAVE, and my wages jumped 100% ...

And that's what I did ... Springfield is still in my rear view mirror ....

I did see John Edwards there in 2004, in the quad at SMSU .... That may have been about 2000 people ...

Nixa is on the way down 65 to Branson, right ?

13. Holy Guacamole, 40k in Springfield?!?
I grew up in Springfield, which IMHO makes Oklahoma City look like frickin' San Francisco. That's amazing. I wish I could have come, I wonder how many of my former schoolmates were there.

15. Missouri is definitely in sight!
Did you see that the Joplin Globe endorsed Obama!

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Globe has endorsed Barack Obama, the newspaper's first Democratic presidential endorsement since 1908....

The only other Democrat to win a Globe presidential endorsement was William Jennings Bryan in 1908.

19. Holy shit!
I grew up around that area. When I was a kid I lived in Hickory county MO. All you folks talking about redneck need to get on out to Urbana and Buffalo MO. There are people there that fly the confederate flag and use the N word like they are saying and or but. If Obama can draw crowds that big in Springfield, fundy, redneck Springfield then he can probably keep it close for McCain there. I'm not to convinced that he can win it. I still have family that live around there (Bolivar). They say the chicken plant was closed down in Buffalo so all those people lost their jobs; that area is a mess because of it. I hope some of those people can put their racism aside for one night and vote for their best interest but I am not optimistic. It is impressive that Obama was able to draw that big of a crowd in Springfield so maybe there is hope.

Good lord!

But when I saw those clipboard pictures, my heart went out to you. Knocking on doors in SW MO is probably no easy task, and it must have been a joy to be surrounded by all those like-minded individuals.
