Why did the Pentagon release the new records? |
The story that they didn't check for them until is laughable. How is it that there were some that weren't scrubbed with the rest? Who made the decision that they should be released now, just a little too early for an October surprise?

1. I think it was because the AP filed a lawsuit |
In a sense - it's journalistic "hush" money. The Pentagon released these so the lawsuit based on FOIA would go away. Now the AP (or other media sources) will have to start the whole process from scratch to retrieve further records. Starting the process again means that any further records won't have to be released until after the elections.

2. i thinkbecause the media had gotten hold - cbs tonight will be |
showing the barnes story and they had also said they had some new information
so the media picked this up and it was going to come out so they put it out in front to make it look like they were the ones who revealed the "truth"

3. I think it's to divert the bigger group of documents |
You know, give them a snowball so they won't notice the blizzard.
