The real race started today--Kerry is like Seabiscuit
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 10:48 PM by Dems Will Win
Kerry is like Seabiscuit, who would only start to run after War Admiral pulled even with him.

Then Seabiscuit ran away with it!

Kerry really was on fire today and every day this month could turn out like today, given what's on tap with books documentaries, articles, investigations etc.

1. I like that analogy
and loved that movie too. I'm still cautiously optimistic mostly because we are right. The truth is on our side.

2. ha, good metaphor
"A roar went up from the grandstand as it was seen that the Admiral was devouring the space between himself and the leader...Making a supreme effort, War Admiral assumed a slight advantage."

"But Seabiscuit, as he has shown it so often, is not made of yielding material. He buckled to his work without flinching and through the next furlong, they ran locked in combat amid excitement that was undescribable." (sic)

"So they struggled, matching stride for stride, to the top of the stretch. With the advantage of the rail, Seabiscuit began to assume the offensive again."

"When they were at the last furlong pole, it was evident that the race was over. Both jockeys put up their whips and Seabiscuit, going strongly, the Admiral a very tired colt, the bay won by three open lengths."

3. I've known OF Kerry for many years
But I've never really followed him politically. I mean, I had no real need. Not my district, not even my state. However, those who are very familiar with his career say the way his campaign is being run, is exactly the way he's waged every other successful campaign. They say he comes out of nowhere and trounces the opposition. If the primaries are any indication, I'd say they're right.

8. I ran away with it decades ago
Kerry still has a lot of catching up to do if he wants a run around the track with me! Hrumph!!!

But hey, he can train with me any day. I'll show him how to blow out War Admiral.

11. The secret to beating War Admiral is:
1. Stare him in the eye and psych him out.

2. Eat more than the average horse.

3. Get more sleep than the average horse.

4. "He may be a small horse, but he doesn't know it. He thinks he's big". Self confidence and determination is all it takes.

13. Heh, why not?
I'd be flattered.

Then again, I love horses and most everything about them (though I could do w/o stall-cleaning.)

17. I think of them as
John Lennon's "Little Piggies" stirring up the dirt. I enjoy kicking them around when their stall cleaning doesn't measure up, which it never does.

they're known as the "Swift Kick Liars"

What they need's a damned good whacking!"

One of George's finest songs. John would get a giggle out of the error, though. Kind of like people telling him how much they loved "Yesterday." (I prefer John's version.)

21. Kerry is starting to
take Karl Roves advice. Attack the oppositions strong points.

The latest Kerry ads are beginning to question whetther Bush is doing a good job at dealing with the War on Terrorism at all, pointing out that Bush is seeking out terrorism where it is not, and doing very little to try to pursue the terrorists where they are. With the third anniversary of 9/11 coming upon us, I anticipate that Kerry will point out that while Bush has been trying to link terrorism with Iraq, none of the terrorists of 9/11 had anything to do with Iraq, and the terrorists that did perpetrate those events are still free and planning other other methods of attacking the U.S. in complete comfort.

31. Kerry's going to win.
No doubt about it. The republican machine ain't even trying to win. They merely want to be close enough to steal it. But it ain't happening this time. We want the White House, and we want it now.
