WOW!! I JUST voted in Dover, NH - my line was 30X LONGER than usual!! What a great experience! |
|
To be fair though, I have never waited even 1 minute to vote at my little neighborhood church polling station. Today I waited for 30 minutes in a line FILLED with smiling faces....
The cute old church ladies had 3 types of coffee, 4 kinds of muffins and a boatload of donuts for sale to raise $$ for Katrina victims houses.
I reflected back over the campaign, sipped coffee and thought about the future.
I even enjoyed reading all the church bulletin boards as I strolled down the hall in line toward the polls - and I'm an atheist!
Oh, and I LOVE paper ballots - it makes the experience more visceral....... Filling in the circles. Mmmm. I took a picture of my ballot because it actually felt 'historic' to me.
For the first time since Clinton I felt like I was voting FOR someone instead of AGAINST someone I liked even less.....
Dixville Notch, here in NH picked OBAMA!! They haven't voted Dem in like 50 years.......
I'm sure there will be reports of 8 hour lines today in parts of America, which makes me appreciate the experience I had this morning even more.......
I'm off now to drive voters for GOTV! - Have a great day all - see you at the finish line!!
PS: Bush, Cheney, McCain, Palin - FUCK OFF all of you. We're done with you now. Climb back under your rocks. Even the memory of you 4 can't spoil the JOY I feel already today!!

1. You can detect the Obama voters by their smiling faces. |

:)
Are there any genuinely happy McCain supporters?

2. There was a woman 2 behind me in line, thumbing her bible and lips mumbling in prayer. McCain maybe? |

I have never waited in line as I always vote when the polls open and then get on the train for work. There were 50 people there at 2 minutes to 6AM!!! They were all so great - they asked if anyone needed to catch a train and get to work and let those of us that did ahead of them. Smiling faces today. It was beautiful.
