1. Right now it's passing
However, polls just closed a while ago, and votes are going to be rushing in through the night. The city strongholds still have to be counted, like San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, and L.A.

17. There is not legal recourse for this...
if we lose at the ballot, we lose. The California Supreme Court has already ruled, which is what legalized it. Only the US Supreme Court could intervene and it won't.

The only counties so far to say no are: Santa Clara, San Francisco, Marin, Napa, and Sonoma,

19. Okay, I want it to go down in flames
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 11:55 PM by pink-o
But my psychic ace-in-the-hole if it passes is wondering if the Callie Supreme Court will strike it down as unconstitutional.

They did it in 94 with that heinous, racist Prop 187 about illegal immigrants. The hate mongers passed that one as well, and it was never implimented due to it's not going thru the proper legal channels.

It died without anyone noticing. That's my hope if Prop Hate passes this time.

(edited cuz I'm so fucking drunk and celebrating President Obama right now I can't type!)

22. Schwarzenegger campaigned against prop 8
The truth is that, overall, Black and Hispanic voters are more conservative than us Latte Liberals. In fact, they are more conservative than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Obama turned out huge numbers of AA and Hispanic voters, which was good for Obama but bad for gays.

The other big factor was the mayor of San Fran. He unintentionally made the most effective pro Prop 8 ad, which was run over and over again here. It really moved the poll numbers. It featured the mayor acting like a fool, yelling "This door's wide open now! It's gonna happen! Whether you like it or not!" I live in SoCal and don't really know much about the guy, but from where I'm sitting he's not looking too swift right now.

Here's the ad the brought Prop 8 back from a double digit deficit in the polls:
